Next season

Accepting the inevitable how do you think we will fare in Division 3?

Runaway winners, promotion hopefuls, mid table mediocracy or relegation battlers. Will Parkinson be leading us at the end of the season or off by xmas? And what will our average gate be?

I think that will be in the top six all season if we can keep the majority of our players (the inevitble ones will leave obviously). Reckon Parkinson will be there til at least Christmas as long as its not a repeat of this year and that well get around 12k a game.

Although not with the same naive optimism/ arrogance i had when we left the prem and the hard lessons learned since Im quite looking forward to next season now and (maybe being overly hopeful) the drop could be the start of a new cycle and rebuilding/ restructuring process that we perhaps wouldnt have necessarily acknowledged a need for should we have stayed in the Champ.

  • Sounds about right, at least I hope we'll be in the top 6 all season.

It's all going to be down to getting the right players in, and keeping as many of the better players as we can. The ones that go must be replaced with enough quality, even if they aren't quite as good.

Parkinson will know players at that level, just need to make sure we get the right ones in.
  • between promotion hopefuls and mid table mediocracy cos i doubt many of yesterdays team will be with us elliot , youga, sam and out of the other starting 8 i doubt 2 or more will be here
average gate will be around 11-12k
no real optimism just the realisation that we will more than likely have a big change around and have a lot poorer squad than this seasons failures and that unbelievably in such a short space of time we have turned into one of those teams that just last season (when we were sliding down the table from 5th) you'd think well at least we aint leicester ,leeds etc ;-(
  • I hope we can keep hold of Bailey, Racon and Shelveyl, it could be an exciting time, and the Johnsons Paitn Trophy!!! bring it all on!!
  • Id like to see and end to the loan culture that has stifled our progress this year on the whole. The short term measures havent resulted in well...results and arguably have hindered the stability of the squad and the development of our owned players. Perhaps it was a necessity in the championship as we didnt have the money to get in players that could do it at this level so maybe we wont have that pressure next year and we will be able to "make do" with what we have (many with high levels of experience in higher leagues) and bring through those on the fringes particularly the youngsters who will have a hunger.

A new season after the horrors of this year will give every player a chance to wipe the slate clean and really make something for themselves next year which will hopefully result in a great team spirit and "in it together" mentality that has arguably been dwindling since the rufus, brown, robinson era.

Lets hope its the start of something beautiful!
  • Truth is we are back to square one and we genuinely don`t have a clue what our starting team will look like next season. Be disapointed if we are not in with a play off shout come the end but can`t see any reason to expect more than that unless we are able to keep hold of a lot of the players that are expected to leave. Exiting at least I suppose.
