Have to agree both team and fans, excellent. Where would we be now with that team available all season (and maybe Varney as the striker)? I'll tell you, challenging for promotion thats where. The quality in midfield and in defence was there for all to see even though I didn't think that Racon had his best game and ZZ had one or two wayward passes but all in all excellent. Jonjo was awesome again and with a bit of luck we could have won it.

It's the games like this where I get the feeling maybe Parkinson can rebuild the squad and do it well. A good goalscoring striker or two might have made the difference today, not a different manager.
Really not much between most teams in this league, really can come down to having real quality in a few areas, eg up front and in goal.
Assuming Parkinson is still here, which I'm sure he will be, I'm certain he'll find an Iwelumo-like striker if we can't sign Kandol. He really seemed to be a big fan of Iwelumo, and I thought Pardew was after using him in every game last season.

It comes back to my earlier posts on "The Charlton Way", it's the few percentage improvements which make the difference. We need to get back to the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. Whatever we might think, the Board are going to give Parky an extended chance. It's important then that he seeks to strive to improve his performance and then model that throughout he coaching and playing staff. I've said all along we have decent players at the club (maybe not in the striking dept at present!) and it's about "coaching" in the widest sense, i.e. getting the team set up right, getting the players motivated, get the tactics right and building a winning mentality. I don't yet know if Parky can do this at the current level but there are some signs that he just might be able to.
Nobody who wants to succeed in life can go through it without learning and developing. The most self-enlightened in this world study the best, model what they do and hone their skills. I don't want anymore patronising b*llshit at press conferences until the guy can show us by performances and results that he knows what to do. I'd rather listen to more humble phrases like "steep learning curve", "more hardwork and honesty required!" and "everybody at this club, including myself is tasked to improve what has been hitherto very poor performances overall" and finally "the players and management apologise unreservedly to the fans for their total lack of professionalism which led to the worst run of results in the clubs history and we're determined to put things right for the future".
When I've heard those kind of things from Parky, I'll know that the correct "Charlton Way" is now being followed
A battling draw against a poor Birmingham DOES NOT make Parkinson the right choice for manager next year. He left it until the 79th minute to bring on another centreforward for a MUST, MUST win game ....

When are people gonna realise that our strikers are shit?! I've more faith in a midfielder finding the net than any of that mob.

i thought overall a good solid performance. the midfield does look a cut above over teams offerings. but you have to ask who will be there at the start of the season? we need stricker with a bit of a bit of a brain at the moment. the 2 we had out there today have a bit of ability but make it too easy for there markers.
good work from the fans today. there was a bit of the old valley atmosphere there. now lets get behind the team for the rest of season. even if we do not like the manager or players. we are all charlton and this club will never die.

Well done lads.
ha, you missed a decent one today. Nice to see the team genuinely applauded off.
Tel, even the blokes who sit next to me were strangely devoid of criticism!

And, of course, so does Parky.
They'd do the same thing, neither of them will play like strikers, they'd still drop into 'the hole' and play like we have been playing.
