Obviously, Thomas and Varney have gone, so put in ZZ for Varney and Bailey (who arrived in time for the second match) for Thomas and you probably have it. Oh, and I'd go for Elliott over Weaver.
Neither of Parkinson's two permanent signings, Spring and Burton, deserve to be anywhere near the starting XI. Frankly, I wouldn't even have either on the bench.
The third game of the season we beat Reading 4-2 with almost the same team (plus Bailey) and just one loanee, Bouazza in for the departed Thomas.
There's so much (justified) hatred of Pardew that there seems to be a collective Charlton Life mass amnesia which conveniently overlooks what a strong team he put out at the start of the season - and how well they were doing until mid-Sept. It's not like we got off on the back foot and never recovered. We started well - and then collapsed catastrophically. That the collapse coinicided with the arrival of multiple loanees may or may not be significant.
And that our best XI is so close to the team with which Pardew started the season shows how little impact Parkinson has made. OK, no money etc etc. so his hands were tied. But the stark truth is that we have gone backwards since the start of the season. Whatever anyone else says, IMO we are a worse team today than the one that Pardew put out last August.
on edit: well I obviously got something right! My team is the same as IMiss's XI, which he posted while I was still composing mine...
If there is one clear issue behind our fasilure its not keeping some element of a settled side.
Granted we have lost some important players to injury ZZ Fortune , maybe Gray are obvious.
But more bad loans than RBS has done for us.
yes but a couple of decent ones, in Murty and Ward.
Even so, the point remains the team Pardew played in the first couple of games of the season plus a fit ZZ is better than the current side (partly due to injuries to Semedo, Fortune and Gray, admittedly).
There are only 4 players Youga,Hudson,Sam and Bailey that are in the current starting XI.
Cant help thinking that injuries (and family illness in the case of Gray) at crucial times cost us this season. Plus we started the season without the right balance in the squad.

Oh yeah actually read it again!! Sorry thought some dig at the amount of right backs (RBs) we've had on loan - doh
