Jerson Dos Santos

See he played for the U18s after his reserve game in midweek.

Lots of goals for Sutton's youth team but seems to have been touted around various clubs without getting a contract.

Anyone seen him play or know anything about him (other than "he's another non-league player who will be a waste of money and never play and why do we bother, shows how skint we are blah, blah, blah)

  • I found this :

  • Chelsea researcher gave me some feedback on our team, this is what he had to say about Dos Santos-
average height, very quick, good work rate, dribbles well, finishing so-so but was well composed for his goal. Showed some good movement.

I've got his feedback on the rest of our players if anyone's interested.

Sounds like we might have a decent centre back coming through in McGinty, a good leader, 'copes assuredly', right footed but quite decent with his left. They did have a defensive midfielder up front though.
  • Would love to read the rest of the feedback Scott.
  • Gough - He wasn't great, poor kicking cost one goal and he punched one up in the air and back down behind him for the other. Was fairly tall though.

Bellamy - Heard some Charlton saying he should be playing midfield. He surges forward very well and can take on a man, good acceleration, didn't show so much longer pace. Looks confident when he gets his head up.

Clark - was the second best of the defenders, following the lead of his partner. Didn't do much to stand out at all really, but nothing bad either.

McGinty - if he was the other centre half, then he was very good. He's tall, plays the left side and is at least comfortable on his left foot. He's loud, leads very well, copes assuredly, hard to really judge much as we had a defensive midfielder up front, but I liked him

Carter - bit short, looked fairly average, didn't get forward much and didn't deal with our right side that well, struggling against pace

Stavrinou - got the impression he was your captain. He's short, passes well, decent tackler, bit ropey on decisions when pressed, didn't get forward at all.

Pell - yep, he's a giant. Wanders around appearing to not be involved but then when he gets the ball is a real force. Showed one or two fantastic through balls, dribbles well, not so good shooting. Was a bit niggly and fouled badly a couple of times.

Davisson - was very quiet all game, struggled to get involved, looked completely average in every sense

Camacho - energetic, tried hard, harrasses really well, missed a big chance. Tracks back well, is a bit on the short side but impressed enough

Tuna - was quiet in the first half, out of position most of the game but came alive when he was moved up front, strength and dribbling, tenacious, much improved when central

Perkins - hard to judge as he had no service at all, worked hard to win high balls, is a deceivingly big lad

    The lineup was-
                    1. Gough

    2. Bellamy. 5. Clark 6. McGinty 3. Carter

                     4. Stavrinou

    7. Camacho 8. Pell. 10. Davisson 9. Tuna

                     11. Perkins

  • Also got some feedback from when our u18s played Pompey from their researcher.

They have a promising right winger and he turned Clark inside out. He said his anticipation wasn't too good and positioning at times. They got Davisson (playing left midfield) to help out because of the problems their winger was causing.

Pell (playing central midfield) won most things in the air and had good range of passing. Put himself about.

Sam Long (playing right midfield) did ok, determined, always wanted the ball and hugged the line.

I'd imagine he's tried to really impress after being told he's being released at the end of the season.

Our strikers (Tuna and Perkins) didn't put them under much pressure and they didn't have a strong defence (though apparently a good goalkeeper).
  • cheers Sco, interesting stuff
  • Think we need to sign this lad. With a name like that he must be good surely ?

    Highlights from the game here

Ignore the names on the commentary for us, most of them are wrong.

Just like last season, I've got some feedback about our u18s against Chelsea, thought I'd post it here in case anyone is interested.
Chelsea won 3-0, they were never really worried but were made to work quite hard in spells. Hard-working performance from Charlton but without a cutting edge.

    GK: Connor Gough
    - Looked taller than he did in April, but quite thin still. Very vocal, kicking of decent standard, didn't have a chance on any of the goals but also had almost nothing to save other than what was straight at him.

    RB: Carl Jenkinson (c)
    - Looked a class apart in the defence as I understand he is. Dunno if there's anything I can tell you about him that you don't know, good pace, drive, tenacity, confident running with the ball, good at the back. Did get exposed for our opening goal but that was sheer brilliance from our winger.

    DC: Yado Mambo
    - Could easily tell he was better and more experienced than his partner. Has grown into his body, wins things in the air easily against a big strong striker, doesn't rely on his physical attributes and carries the ball to the next level from defence. Wasn't so confident going towards his left side though.

    DC: Semi Ajayi
    - Maybe because has partnered by Mambo but he looked very raw. Athletic and about Mambo's height, but lacked the savvy and patience to really excel. His short passing was inconsistent and often underhit, and when fronted with multiple passing options kept opting for the ball up to the strikers instead of the short pass to the midfield. He's quick and quite strong, good spring on him, but his technical ability hasn't caught up. I can probably see him maturing into something like Mambo, but he does need to develop the football side of his game.

    LB: Jack Clark
    - Pretty sure it was him, he had a quiet game, our AMR was shattered and ineffective. Did well against Gokhan Tore when he had a chance against him, didn't get forward too much.

    MC: Harry Pell
    - Similar to last time, trots around the middle of the park, less effective today. Had struggles finding anyone ahead of him to do anything and launched a couple of wayward long balls to nobody. Subbed.

    MC: Connor Morris
    - Good energy and passing, but the game sort of passed him by defensively and he didn't ever truly get involved in the action. Looked interested early and faded, but there was something there that told you he has ability.

    MR: Liam Bellamy
    - Good, direct running and closing down of our left-back, who is a winger playing in a new role, but didn't get the better of him over the course of the game and made little to no impact going forwards. Subbed.

    ML: Freddie Warren
    - Very lively, good turn of foot and agility, picks up the ball deep and drives inside. Looks to be involved a lot and has a good shot on him. Quite a useful little player, knows how to use his low sense of gravity and acceleration to his advantage. Doesn't look the same player when he can't run into space.

    FC: Tosan Popo
    - Totally out of the game because he was up against a boy twice his size. Looks really slight and a bit shy, is quick, has a really good spring on him, but had nothing all day. Subbed.

    FC: Lewis Perkins
    - Good movement and running into channels, good work ethic and decent at holding the ball up. Had a chance, wasted it, didn't have much else to do.

    Subs:

    Joe Carter
    - Played ML, showed a real commitment to get involved, hard running, tackling, basically just trying to get involved and did well. Seemed pissed off at the result and was determined to turn it around, moreso than anyone else.

    Steve Camacho
    - Too late to get involved really, did nothing

Unidentified (edit: Pigott, u16 striker I think)
    - Big, tall, powerful blond striker, put himself about but had no service. Had one ace moment where he picked the ball up and ran into space then fell over as if tackled, but nobody was within ten yards Could be useful at this level but I'd need to see more.

Obviously Clark is pro so wouldn't normally play for the u18s. Semi Ajayi is an u16 and is starting to play more often for the u18s. From the sounds of it and other match reports he's a bit like Mambo, physically ready at 15/16 but needs to improve other areas of his game.
  • Interesting to read the earlier report about Tuna and the others again 6 months on.

    Fascinating insight so thanks Scoham.

Looking back it's no surprise why McGinty moved on considering he was doing that against Chelsea while he was still a schoolboy.
  • is McGinty the lad that went to Man Utd?
  • If you ever get anything else like this feedback Scoham, post it, because it is very interesting!
  • Highlights on Youtube. Haven't watched it yet, but apparently the names from the commentry are very wrong, just like last season (post #9 in this thread).
  • Never a penalty, great tackle from mambo
  • Second goal = quality though! We never touched it from the kick off.
