Charlton Reserves v Millwall Reserves Tonight

From the OS

Youthful reserves side take on Lions

An inexperienced Charlton reserve outfit will line up against their Millwall counterparts at Ebbsfleet United's Stonebridge Road on Wednesday night (7pm).

Out of the starting XI, only two players - Darren Randolph and Scott Wagstaff - boast first-team experience, although Jack Clark, who is named at left-back, was on the bench for Charlton's FA Cup fourth-round defeat at Sheffield United in January.

Wily winger Wagstaff will captain Matthew's side just a day after turning 19, with Randolph in goal following his sterling performance in last week's 0-0 totesport.com Combination Central League draw with Crystal Palace.

Alex Stavrinou, who like Clark will pen professional terms with the Addicks for next season, also features in what is a double-header against the Lions, with the Charlton's women team in action against Millwall at Dulwich Hamlet the same night (7.45pm).

Other starters in Damian Matthew's second string are Liam Bellamy and strikers Lewis Perkins and Tamer Tuna.

Well-known faces in Millwall's team are former Oxford United man Chris Hackett, Maidstone-born Danny Spiller and ex-Luton Town ace Ahmet Brkovic.

Charlton will go into the game in eighth place in the table, with Millwall currently lying in fourth.

The Addicks have lost just once in their last six games, but slipped to a 2-0 reverse to Millwall earlier this season after a brace from Ashley Grimes at The New Den.

Grimes grabbed the opening goal at the third time of asking moments before the break after two good stops from Rob Elliot. And he gave his side some breathing space from the penalty spot four minutes after the restart.

Entry to Stonebridge Road is free to Charlton season-ticket holders, or £3 adults and £1.50 concessions. A full match report will be available at www.cafc.co.uk overnight.

Comments

  • The Womens team are playing their Millwall counterparts as well tonight in a top of the table clash. Could be quite lively if the home match is anything to go by.
  • Is McLeod allowed to play for Millwall aginst Charlton in a reserve match?
  • I know Tamer, known him since he was a little kid, great prospect and a striker to watch. I have trained him as a junior league manager, and played against him in 5 aside last year. ( after 10 minutes iI went in goal)

Have not seen him play for a season or so, but he used to train with his elder brother with my lads at Gravesend and Northleet u16 that won the kent cup a few years ago.

Saw him at Highbury where he scored a couple of top class goals, one to watch been at the academy since he was seven.

Been meaning to see him again, to see how he has progressed, hope he makes it, local lad, who loves his football.

Interesting, I've noticed him and Lewis Perkins have been rotated a bit between who is ahead of who when it comes to playing in reserves and u18 games.

What sort of player is he? I saw him in the Spurs youth cup match as a sub, didn't have enough time to get into the game, and we were up against a better team in Spurs.

I doubt we can afford even one of them....

  • another one to stick in the ressies for a year, never give him a chance, loan out to Morecombe, Aldershot et al and then pin all our hopes on when all else fails only then to discover he ain't what he's cracked up to be.
