  • [cite]Posted By: superclive[/cite]I didnt hear ambrose gettign stick, but this would explain alot, He started ok bu the most disapointing thing I saw was him 1 with a full back in fron of him and a chance to cross. Hes confidence loss was never clearer than when he then passed it back to butterfield. Ambrose is a good crosser, is quick and could have beaten that guy all day. But the confidence just wasnt there. I would like to see him stay and star for us next year.

Sorry superclive, but did you just use Ambrose and quick in the same sentence?!
He's gotta be one of the slowest players around and if Parky insists on playing him then it should definitely not be out wide.
  • Always frustrated me because he has got the ability and it's wasted on him. It's just unfortunate as Henry says that we always play him out wide but unfortunately we've not really had many alternative options on the wing. On the very few occasions he's played in the middle he's looked far more comfortable and effective.

I just wish we'd give Basey an opportunity to see what he can do on the wing. His crossing and free kicks are not bad. Not sure if he's quick enough but he could overlap with Youga. If Parky insists on playing Youga at least I'd be happy seeing Basey get a game.

Youga just worries me, it's not that I dislike him he trys hard but then again our whole defence worries me most of the time.
  • Its funny how people see things differently, I see so many people say Ambrose has ability, Ambrose is / was quick. I don't see it, IMO he has no pace, very little skill and is a complete lightweight. The only thing he has in his favour is a decent cross but he does not have the pace, skill or power to get to the right positions to do this so is a complete non entity in most games I have seen. Good bye and good riddance I say. The least I expect of any player in a red shirt is that they show 100% commitment, and don't hobble off the first time someone boos them with some mystery injury
  • Was it Ambrose that laid on that fantastic cross for Bouazza's goal against Reading. Seems light years away now may have got that wrong.

Considering the number of players used this squad is still very badly structured. I dont actually blame Parky for that but I do Pardew and to some degree Murray.

From what I have seen of Basey he is just as inconsistent as Ambrose.

And the Ambrose/Butterfield combination was probably the least offensive right flank for ages. Just when we needed some ummphhh. For that I do blame Parky.

    No. It was Moutaouakil!
  • 1.Butterfield - Ambrose or

    2.Moo2 - Sam

pairings couldn't be much more different from each other, would choose no.2 everytime especially for home games.

Thanks GR. I posted some weeks ago that Moots couldnt cross for toffee. In fact watching it again it wasnt really a full blown cross but a damn good move anyway.

Moots is one of the saddest outcomes of this awful season. I understand the discipline stuff but he was exciting to watch when going forward. Understand hes playing for the reserves tonight.
  • Ambrose is definitely better in the middle, either behind the striker or with a ball winner alongside him in midfield. Yeah he miscontrolled the ball from that fantastic pass from JonJo, but the crowd (well north upper) definitely got on his back. He did frustrate me as well when he didnt get early cross over when we had 4 in the box, and passed it back but this is no different to say Sam running into the defender and losing the ball. The thing I like about Ambrose is that even when not playing very well, he never hides and still looks for the ball.

You are having a laugh with that bit surely.

Another example of how we all see it differently.

I would describe myself as being in the "Ambrose has talent" camp but the thing that infuriates me more than anything else about him is a tendency to go missing. Yet you don't think he does go missing.

He's not slow. Not quick but decent pace. He just doesn't use it, he's not a dribbler and I'd say his serious lack of confidence and belief also plays a huge part.

This is quite funny. You see I think he can dribble.

I meant he doesn't like to dribble with the ball. Not compared to say Lloyd Sam or Jerome Thomas, who always look to run with the ball whenever possible. His actual dribbling when he does it is decent I would agree with that.
