He devotes part of his column to complaining about the number of goal-less draws in the PL and suggests that there should be a height limit on 'keepers or the goals should be bigger. He finishes with 'I do accept that even if the goals were the size of the Channel Tunnel, Charlton still wouldn't score'.Presumably he's not aware that we haven't participated in any Pl games lately, goal-less or not!

Problem is that you might see a lot of both sides scoring an early goal each. ; - )
Nothing wrong with 0-0 anyway. Part of the game and remember the 0-0 in Rome for England to qualify for the World Cup
well it just goes without saying.
;)
it's a given and anyway those B******** in admin would just delete it. : - )
I've never met AFKA but various humourous comments on here have suggested he's not that tall. I wonder if he fancies himself in goal for us under Kelvin's new rules ???
During the 1990 world cup, I was news editor at The Times and the then editor of the paper, Simon Jenkins, made us run a campaign calling for the size of the goal to be doubled to make the game ''more exciting''.
He knew nothing about football by his own admission and not a single person on the paper agreed with him. But we had to run this ludicrous campaign and every morning in conference he'd instruct us to find famous ex-players etc. to give us comments in support of his preposterous idea.
Of course, we couldn't find them because they didn't exist. He didn't believe us and accused us of not trying and reckoned we were deliberately seeking to undermine the paper's campaign.
Typical of the farce that goes on in a newspaper office virtually every day. Glad to be out of it...
But if he'd run a campaign for midget goalies, now that might have been different !
No point defending if goals conceded counted for nothing. This would take it to the other extreme with 40 goal games been a possibility. Why bother with a keeper? - shove him up front.
Nothing like a dose of 'realism' ........ lol
win = 5 points
score draw = 2 points
0-0 = 1 point
lose = 0 points
i think the points system is fine. there are plenty of other issues to sort out before this one too, imo.
also, mackenzie's idea of a height limit on goalkeepers is stupid even for him.
Agree about scarcity of goals being what makes football special - and avoiding foregone conclusions (eg Charlton 0 Swindon 1 !!)
Win -3pts
Score Draw -2pts
0-0-1pt
Defeat- No Points
What happens to the "lost" point?
The referee gets to take them home, where he keeps them in a bag. As in "the points are in the bag".
Never knew that.
Can he sell them or is it just a souvenir?
Charlton often auction on EBAY any spare points left over at the end of the season.
Surely it would be better for the environment if they were recycled and used for other games but would there be a problem with points from different divisions getting mixed up?
Wish I had known, I would have bid for spare point from Charlton 2 Palace 2.
