There is an interesting interview with Richard Murray in today's Evening Sub-Standard. Talks about the dramatic fall of Charlton over last few years. Most of it we all know, but he does emphasise that Curbs left because he felt he needed to prove himself elsewhere. Also, effect of Zabeel's withdrawal is made to sound pretty dramatic. Murray & Pardew had SIX players already lined up to come into the club to help our promotion push & some current players knew they would be on their way out. Then, after we had sailed through the due diligence process, Zabeel withdrew the day before they were due to complete the deal.
That has to have had a shocking effect on everybody involved, from Richard Murray down to the players. Pardew saw his dream go up in smoke & the players were totally unsettled. I really do think this chain of events has caused a lot (not all) of our problems this year.
Richard is optimistic that we will survive Division 1 football & that he can find new investors for the club. So it's not all doom & gloom. Good interview Richard.

Still think the effect of Zabeel's withdrawal msut have been pretty cataclysmic for those involved. Helps to explain Pardew's subsequent meltdown.
Even better, taking aim, firing and sinking in 20 seconds, commendable.
