He seems to take our plight seriously - and really would rather stay: "“I also feel that it’s my fault as much as anyone else’s that Charlton are in this situation and I take my share of the blame for that. I like the club, the boys and the management staff and I will be really disappointed if we go down."
''TOM Soares says he would be happy to extend his loan at Charlton beyond the weekend - but still believes he has a Premier League future with Stoke.''
Not much point in extending is there? He's not going to play in div three next season whatever happens, so why spend any more money on keeping him here? Play Ambrose or Sam or blood some youngsters in preparation for next season.
[cite]Posted By: McLovin[/cite]I'd agree with that 100% Nigel. Can't see any point in keeping him and playing him out of position. Might as well give Waggy a run out.
I too agree with the principle but wonder whether Waggy will make it given that he could not get into Northwich Victoria's team and they are marooned at the bottom of the Conference.
Yussuf on the other hand would be worth a look in my view. He was rated at Northwich.
Wagstaff did get Northwich's team for a few games, wasn't he sent back after getting sent off though?
I saw him throughout pre-season and the odd game this and last season and I've never seen enough there to make me think he'll make it with us. Doesn't have the natural dribbling ability and skill that wingers like Sam have, and he doesn't appear to make up through it with his crossing and passing. Usually wide players are good at one or the other.
Yussuff looks decent though, he has the advantage in that he's our only left footed midfielder so he may well get a go on the left in the last couple of games. Tidy without doing anything outstanding.
Though we don't know if Parkinson is looking to keep either of them, Yussuff is out of contract in the summer along with Wright and Arter. Should know which youngsters he wants to keep from which ones get a chance in the last few games.

Waggy got in at the start but they benched and eventually dropped him.
I found a fans forum and they liked Yussuf but didn't think Waggy was any better than what they had.
I think you are thinking of his earlier loan spell at Bournemouth re the sending off.
Wright showed enough in the couple of games he played that he has got more than enough to get a new contract. I hope that once Arter proves his fitness he'll get a new offer too. Not seen enough of Toks although he is highly rated by Kins. I'd rather see Waggy for the remainder of the season so we can see whether he has anything to offer or not.

Put yourself in his position: Soares had to say he believed he had a Prem future with Stoke ... otherwise, it gives entirely the wrong message to Stoke. Any player with a shred of ambition, wants to establish himself as a Prem player.
But what he's also saying is that he'd much rather be here, he likes the place, obviously has settled in well with everyone, and he's actually playing - which is what he wants to do more than anything.
He's a South London boy and despite his Palace history, feels he's come home. It's apparent that he doesn't want to leave.
We all understand the economics though - he's unaffordable, so he'll probably be gone.
Oggy - we can't afford him, as you say. Equally, however much he says he loves life in SE7, he is NOT going to play in div three even if we could afford him!
So he might as well go back when the loan runs out this weekend.

Yes, Nigel - I acknowledged all that above.
I was just trying to see it from the player's perspective.
I'd keep him. In fact I would keep every player that has a vested interest in busting a gut for Charlton right now. Soares probably knows he doesn't figure in Stoke's plans, at least while they are in the Premiership. So, unlike some other players, he will run his socks off in Charlton's cause if we keep him. After all what would look better on his CV: "Kept Stoke's reserves ticking over" or "helped keep Charlton up"?
It's not about whether or not he'll play in "Division 3" [sic]. It's about whether he's the right material to keep us in "Division 2". That's as far as we should be looking.
Have great respect for the lad, yes he may not be the best loanee we have had, but he cares , which is a rare word when describing a Charlton player, but would rather have Sam in his spot

I admire your optimisim but any realistic chance of us staying up is long gone.
Nigel w is spot on. He isn't going to be with us next season so why keep paying the wages, we'd be better off giving our own players a run in the side.
Makes sense to let him go now, financially and to test the kids, but it's so good to hear a pro (especially a loanee) taking some responsibility, rather than just passing the buck. Haven't seen all his games but he does at least appear to have applied himself. Thanks at least for caring.
Not suggesting that the guy is using us because its obvious he has tried but really he is using us in the sense that he knows he`s only with Charlton to get games yet must also know he won`t be around next season. If we are keeping Sam then Parky should play him. Thanks Tom but we need to look after number one at the moment.

Yeah Stoke are really up against it... ;-)
Get rid to save wages and give other players games to show what they can do.
Not a bad player, but hasn't stood out, probably not played in his best position.
