Can we do it?

edited March 2009 in General Charlton
Can we stay up does any one out there in the charlton life world believe we can stay up?

If we remain unbeaten could we?

  • Not a chance. The team is not good enough and most of the players are not very good footballers. I felt that relegation was on the cards from very early in the season based on how poor most the players are as footballers.
  • Thanks for the Deatailed post.
  • Sorry No1 but there's no way we're going to overtake three teams and survive. Mind you if Wolves have an off day and the three above us lose they'll be a few people on here saying the impossible's possible.(send for Oggy).
  • Or Dazzler - it's still mathmatically possible so we can do it! - But i'm afraid it is unlikely!
  • To quote the day today:

"you've got more chance of a blow job off the pope"
  • Well i am a young lad and he is a pope - so i like those odds!
  • Step forward, Dazzler and try your luck, if you're keen ....... but watch out for dirty habits.

    ;o)
  • haha ha lol - was wondering when you'd brighten up this thread Oggster!
  • we got to win every game to have a sniff

    Like it

Would like to think we have the fight in us but looking at us it has to be a NO

I might as well chime in with my two penn'orth ..... but you know what I'm going to say already, right, lol .... ?

Well, of course, Kins is spot on - we've got 9 games left, 27 points to play for - and all the bottom teams have the 6-pointers against each other, including us.

And it would be 9 Cup Finals, and we would need to get lucky with other games involving struggling clubs.
    So it CAN be done.

    But:

    a) We need player concentration, ability, tactics and teamwork for 96 minutes for 9 games
    b) We need other teams to implode
    c) We need a feckin miracle

    So it CAN be done.

    ;o)
  • We'll be lucky and will have done well to finish second or third from bottom.

Our current forward line have scored 4 goals between them all season for the club - can anyone see Kandol/Dickson/Burton scoring the necessary goals?

    b) We need other teams to implode
    c) We need a feckin miracle

    (b) and (c) may be possible. But (a) is going to take a lot more than a mere common-or-garden miracle. It's going to need the earth to shift its axis, I think...
  • We didn`t have a chance even when we did have a chance !
  • My post was firmly tongue in cheek, as I hope you all appreciated.

But the question was, can we do it? ....rather than will we?

Even I think now that only Devine intervention - you know, Act of God, will save us.
Which isn't much hope for the atheists amongst us.

    ;o)

    Deary dear!!
  • Don't give up, Oggy!

    Soton - administration?

Norwich - Delia bakes a cake that lethally posions both first team and reserve squads, leading to the club's enforced retirement from league football?

Blackpool - a tidal wave sends the entire town crumbling into the sea?

  • If we stay up, I will perform an Elvis number, in the middle of the pitch at the first home game next season, in full white jumpsuit.
  • In that case, DA9, I rather hope we do go down!

There was only me and Kins left - but now my flame of hope has been extinguished by all the 'Realists'.

    So now there's only Kins.

The odds in question are obviously on staying up lol! And i don't mean staying up for popey!
  • That Elvis i'd be interested in.
