I hope we don't miss this opportunity

We really need to start planning for next season and the sooner the better. I know I will get shouted down by some on here as tonight was a good result but Soares, Ambrose, ZZ, Buttermilk, they just wont be here next season. Sooner rather than later I would like to see Dickson, Wright, Jonjo, Solly, Mootoo etc. Players that either will be here next season or at the very least will be sellable assets at the end of the season.

I can understand Ward and Hudson playing as we just don't have any other CB's so needs must but I just hope Parky gives the kids the majority of the next few games and not just the last 5 or so. Every game is invaluable experience for these guys. Ok, we dont want to get bettered every week, it wont do their confidence any good but I really don't think they could do any worse than the current incumbents.

So come on Parks, get them playing, hopefully it will give everyone watching something to cheer and get behind whilst at the same time improving them as players. It was Pardews big fault last season that he didn't try some of these guys out in more games when the play offs had gone, don't repeat it.

  • I see where you coming from, Valley, and agree up to a point.

But just for these next few games against difficult promotion prospects, it's probably more sensible to put out an experienced team.

One thing the place needs is a lift in spirit and mental energy, and an unexpected but hard fought result away at Reading helps build morale at the club.

No point in chucking several youngsters in all at once, they'll more than likely get battered against the top teams and their confidence could take a while to put back together.

    The youngsters' chance will come.
  • We've got to use them where we can but I have to agree with Oggy, playing 4 or 5 of them at a time isn't necessarily good for them. I'd like to see Solly make his debut, especially after the problems we've had in the full back positions. Wright could do with a few games, assuming Parkinson wants to keep him.
