OK, who do you think will stay, who will go?

I can see us selling Hudson, ZZ, & unfortunately Shelvey, finances will dictate IMO, any more?

Comments

  • I think Shelvey's sale price can only go up considerably in the the next 12 - 24 months so I think that would be rash unless a silly bid came in.

I wonder what Fortune's contract is like and how long he has left on it?

As you say ZZ must be on his way and hopefully Hudson.
  • Who i think will go for a range of reasons:

    Weaver
    Yassin
    Ambrose
    ZZ
    Gray
    Toddy
    Mcleod

Think Shelvey will be at us for at least the first season in League 1.
  • Can't see anyone out of contract being retained / wanting to stay, and those in contract but on decent wedge, or could attract a fee a la Hudson and Bailey will be forced out.

Expect a much smaller squad for next season, with a lot of pressure on the youngsters to step up and perform.

Depends if the club hold their nerve, if someone came in with 2-3million, or silly money like Saints got for Walcott, could we turn it down? my hope is that Shelvey honours his new contract, for at least next season, and if we dont push for promotion then I think he may want to go.
ZZ is a cert to go for me, cant see Fortune bringing much cash in, Hudson, Jonjo & ZZ are the only ones for me that we can make real money on.
  • Don't really care who stays or who goes. Apart from Racon. The one player I really hope we can keep.

He'd be our Andy Reid, remember how good we looked when we had Reidy at the start of last season, he was the difference between 1 point and 3 points. I think Racon will have a similar effect next season.

Elliott will be our number 1. Semedo/Racon our central midfield partnership.

Would love Bailey to stay, can see it as well, he took a step up from Southend to come to us, and I can see him staying, for at least the season, he would be great at that level as thats where he was grounded.

    Agree wholeheartedly.

Thought he was the best player on the pitch Saturday personally, he has been sorely missed this season.
  • team to start the season

This is what I would like to see, not sure if semedo and racon will stay though.

    elliot

    Semedo
    Fortune or new signing
    ?
    Youga/Chris Powell?

    Sam
    Racon
    Wright/Spring
    Bailey

    Shelvey

    Dicko

    Sub
    Burton
    Randolph
    Spring
    Holland
  • I notice in the program at the weekend Ambrose said he'd love to stay.

I think he could be worth keeping as he is still young and clearly has some talent

he also said 'i've no doubt that in 5 years we will be back in the premier league'

  • We can't get any transfer fee for any player out of contract - unless they are under 24 (development fee).

Out of the current squad minus who I think will go:

    Elliot

    (no RB)
    Basey
    Fortune
    (no CB)

    Sam
    Spring
    Semedo
Jonjo (all the other sales should mean we can keep him)

    Dickson
    Burton

    Squad

    Randolph
    Youga
    Holland
    Wright
    Wagstaff
    Sinclair
    Fleetwood
    Yussuff
    Mcleod

So we will need 2 RB's & 3 CB's just to have enough numbers to cover a squad. Maybe some youngsters will fill these gaps but whoever is in charge will need to wheel and deal as we will have no cash even with these sales.
  • we should get more loan players in

My thoughts exactly, we are badly lacking in loanees, and that would have made the difference IMO, Pardew must go now.

    How I see it.

Goners due to wages, transfer fee, contract ending, age, or Parky not liking them - Weaver, Moutaouakil, Youga, Hudson, Fortune (if fit enough to pass a medical elsewhere), Holland, Zheng Zhi, Ambrose, Todorov, Gray, McLeod.

Maybe gone - Bailey (probable), Shelvey (unlikely).

    That leaves..

    GK - Elliott, Randolph
    DEF - Basey, Semedo*
MID - Semedo*, Spring, Racon, Sam, Wagstaff, Wright, SInclair, Yusuff and possibly Shelvey
    STR - Burton, Dickson, Fleetwood

    Ouch.
  • I think we will sign Kandol if we get rid of Mcleod.

Pretty sure we'll see Solly and Mambo feature in defence at some point next season. Can see Kandol signing as well.

I didn't include any loanees staying with us, but I hope that you're right.

Kandol and Dickson is the way to go next season.

[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]I'm sure someone on here said they asked Steve Gritt if he'd like to manage us and he's not interested. I think he's happy managing the academy.
Will we still have an academy? Serious question, not stirring things up.
Someone on here said we're reverting it back to a centre of excellence, no idea though. Guess we'll find out in the summer when they announce things like that.]What I said here

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between an "Academy" and a "Centre of Excellence" other than terminology?

  • I don't know exactly myself. On the OS here, it became an academy in 1998. All Premier League clubs must have an academy, if they do they can't have a centre of excellence.

    Someone else here must know?
