Reading and Wolves in the next 7 days.

edited March 2009 in General Charlton
Can we just default these games and hand both teams a 3-0 win so the team and more importantly the supporters don't have to make the effort and save us the embarrassment?

Surely the league must take pity on us!

  • I'm going to Reading expecting to get nothing. And I'm sure they won't disappoint. After that it's only going to be our swansong at Derby for a day out and a laugh.
  • negative all day long, glad we will have true fans again
  • The team have made the fans negative because they are pathetic

I assume we will see you there Tuesday then Tavern, getting behind the team.
  • I'll be there.

I think its the true fans who have been following this shower all season that have full right to be negative. Im sure you will be there Tavern?

I have tickets for both unfortunately as well. Could be embarrassing.
  • We're only 12 points adrift and there's still ten matches to go!

Beat Reading, Wolves, Preston, Southampton and Birmingham in our next five and we're right back in it.

Easy final five match run-in that includes Blackpool, Derby and Norwich.

Result? 57 points, comfortable final middle-table position, well above Palace.

Oh, hang on. I seem to have put the wrong glasses on when I got up this morning. (Are they yours, by any chance, Oggster?)

There that's better. Normal service has been resumed.

Yup, we're going down. Not in 22nd place. Not in 23rd place. But in 24th place.

    LOL
  • Going to both.

    Shame.
  • I'll be there for both games as well. Can't say that I'm looking forward to either game but I'm still going to turn up & hope for the best. I paid just over £100 to the box office yesterday for 2 tickets to both games. God, I must be mad!

  • Going to Reading on route to Cheltenham, thats my motivation for that one.

I know that very few people seem to agree with my 'glass half full' approach - but I've always tried to show what we can achieve, rather than what we can't.

My crime: Have a go, rather than give up.
  • Reading en route to Cheltenham - nice work LBlock!

at least you'll have something to look forward to while watching another spineless performance from the shower in red

    any tips??
  • Its basically a clash of blind optimism v realism. When I look a certain fixtures not just Charlton eg. Man Utd v WBA I straight away think Home win. Why ? Becacause every statistic and form guide dictates that choice. Now I feel sure there are baggies fans who would think yeah we can get something. catch em on a bad day blah blah but the reality is its pretty damn certain that a home win it will be. Ask a bookie. As for Charlton at Wolves and Reading. I apply that same approach. Just because I am a Charlton supporter I don`t feel that I am betraying anyone by thinking that both those teams will beat us. Not giving up or half glass empty....Its called realism and those of us cursed with it should not be slated as being negative or doom merchants. My dad always said " you never see a poor bookmaker" and if you want to check out a dose of realism then take a look at the odds given for us at those fixtures.
