[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]charlton win 4-0 .. we'll miss this division , it lived up to it's promise of being soooooooooooooooooo exciting
Yes, good point.
I shared you scepticism about the "excitement" of the new division at the time and never felt that going down would be a good thing unless we bounced straight back up and even then I would have preferred to have stayed in the Prem.
I was also of the view that Curbs record of keeping us in mid-table regardless of the style of play or falling away in late season was too easily forgotten by many who assumed that the only way was up and that somehow we deserved to do even better.
But the past is the past, people were wrong on that and I was wrong on other things such as Les Reed so having made the point lets move on.
Even though the midfield is solid, we do seem to be lacking width, creativity - and unpredictability.
There's no one in the side to run at defenders, tease them into making the reckless tackle and concede free kicks in dangerous positions/win penalties.
So we do need a winger again, especially at home games.
Phil Parkinson could be boosted by the return of Zheng Zhi as Charlton go in search of three precious points against fellow strugglers Watford at The Valley on Saturday (3pm).
China international Zheng played for just under an hour as the reserves fought out a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Wednesday night.
And Parkinson was so impressed with the midfielder's contribution that the star, who has featured just twice for Charlton this season, could now be in line to play a part when the Hornets arrive in SE7 this weekend.
As Charlton bid to bounce back from Tuesday's disappointing 2-1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers, Parkinson told the official website: "ZiZi played for the reserves and surprised himself and us with just how well he did. In training he's been all right, but then he played for the reserves and was excellent.
"I was delighted with his performance and he's back in contention. Ideally, just playing an hour isn't enough, but we're not in an ideal situation."
Alongside Zheng, Tresor Kandol could also be back in the fold against Brendan Rodgers' Watford, with Parkinson admitting his men must start taking the chances that come their way during games.
Striker Kandol has missed the last two games due to family reasons, but is back at Sparrows Lane and could be thrown straight back into the mix as Charlton bid to cut away at the 12-point gap now separating them from safety.
"Tres is back," said Parkinson. "It has been unfortunate for him as he had some quite serious personal problems to deal with, which are still ongoing, but he wanted to come back and have a release from it all. He's definitely in the squad and everyone else came through the Doncaster game fine."
Just hope Parky gives Shelvey and Dickson another chance after both were below par on Tues. They are the future not some has been (and never had it anyway) like Burton.
Needs to play 4-4-2 at home so Dickson and Kandol up front with Shelvey on the left of midfield, Bailey where he belongs in the centre and Spring dropped.
Youga must be the worst footballer ever to feature even at this level. He'll still be a weak link next year in Division One if he stays. Not sure even Division Two is his level - Blue Sq is probably about right. Who signed him? Pardew or Dowie? What were they thinking?

Given the disaster that was Tuesday nights game against Doncaster, I suspect the same formation with the same players highly unlikely. It looks like Kandol might be ready to play again and I'd also like to see us start with Ambrose who has looked good every time he's come on as a sub.

Typically bad.
"4-5-1 or 4-4-2"
4-5-1 with Dicko holding a banjo finding a cows bum to hit in the 18 yard box.

Funny I was thinking the same thing after the mentions of Douala playing in a 4-3-3
What players to you predict then?
Pressure off to certain extent so big win. 3 - 0 to Charlton at a canter.
Going to put money on Dickson, Spring and Shelvey to score. Putting my money were my mouth is.
Going to be a sunny day and a fun game to watch.
Thought we should've done that on Tuesday. It's a must win game so might as well just go all out for it.
unfortunately the back four will be the same
midfield is more of a question
my preference would be
Shelvey Racon Bailey Sam/Soares
Dickson Burton/Kandol
ZZ on bench to play second half.
Might be a strong argument to play Soares and Sam on the flanks and really go for it given what shit creek we are currently in.

4-4-2, with Jonjo dropping to the bench.
1-0 to Watford but Soton, Norwich and Blackpool will all lose, too, so we're kept agonisingly hanging on for a little longer.
Whatever, after thinking this morning that I might not go, have decided I shall def. be there to share the agony and/or the ecstacy.

Is that all that's left of the Great One's legacy on the playing side.
Obviously we have the memories and the Stadium as well. And to think that some wanted to get rid of him!

ZZ possibly on the bench. Basey might have a chance of coming in for Youga, just to change it around a bit.
Probably a 1-1 draw.
Thanks. I wonder why he slipped my mind.
I thought he looked well up for it when he came on Tuesday.
