Finally back from extended hols, having missed the last four games.
When I went away we were nine points adrift from safety. Looking at the table this morning, we are now nine points adrift from the team that's second to bottom.
Yet lots of you say we have been playing with guts and determination and we've just enjoyed a three match undefeated spell for the first time this season.
So how are we in a worse position than when I went away almost a month ago? I guess the only answer is that every other team in the division, including Southampton and Norwich, is better than us. We'd all like to stay up. But is there anybody out there who actually thinks we deserve to?
While I've been away, I see Parkinson has officially overtaken Pardew in the lousy manager stakes:
Pardew 16 pts from 18 games
Parkinson 11 pts from 17 games
So well done, Pardew and Parky. Well done Mr Murray and Mr Chapple. Well done each and every one of the 38 players who have worn the shirt with such distinction. Thank you all for such a proud season.
And I read elsewhere on this site that we now have so-called Charlton supporters singing racist chants from the stands.
What is happening to our club? I feel like going straight back to the airport to get the first flight out again!
Where's Oggy ? Come on, Oggster - tell me it's all going to be OK and have nothing to worry about!!!

My opinion, we are fooked.
There have been plenty of well documented wrongs this season, but its also been coupled with some filthy luck at times.
That's life.
REALLY ??????????????
Explain please in more detail old chap.
You mean Parkinsella surely : - )
Without any doubt I would rather have parky/parkinsella in charge next year than pardew.
uhmm, not for me. An improvement maybe but not by a lot.
.......and thanks to Parky for his first forage into the transfer market, a loanee that became a full signing........Deon Burton
.........and for playing Bailey wide left
apart from that he was the perfect appoitment.
AFKA has said by a factor of 10. How would you express the improvement.
I would say 63% better on a mean average of passion, plain speaking, player selection, permanence (settled XI) and Parkinsellism
Pards well below average to poor
Parky average to just above average
Where Bailey continues to score goals.
Burton obviously needs to be dropped to the bench to allow the goal machine Dickson to play. Oh, he has been.
But I can see you point about the right back we have. Why not play Solly? I bet he wants to play for the club unlike Moo2.
Me neither. His brand of motivation and public speaking will go down a treat with the Nigels.
"Success" Who said that?
Improvement yes but not success.
There are many mitigating circumstances re. Parkinson and how badly we are doing. Lack of finance being the big'un. But in the end, he ain't good enough. There's no point sacking him now. Next season will be a new division, probably a virtually new team again. It should start with a new manager too!
I'm not.
Struggling to understand the rationale, given the facts.
It seems that with relegation looming, Parky has instilled a bit of fight into the side. It would be alarming if he hadn't.
But his results are still : -
a) worse than Pardew's
and
b) worse in recent weeks than Southampton, Norwich, Forest, Plymouth , Doncaster and all the other teams fearing for their survival.
As Len pointed out, we clearly have improved , but the other teams facing the gallows have improved more than us. What's more, they all now seem to be winning games away from home (something we've managed once all season - and that under Pardew).
AFKA says that nobody in their right mind could have predicted other teams getting those kind of results. Not sure I agree with that : teams threatened with relegation at this time of the season customarly pull out all the stops and start pivking up points they would not have got earlier in the season.
I think it is reasonable to ask why we're not accumulating points in the same quantity as the other teams down the bottom. Do Soton/Forest/Norwch etc have better players? More motivational management?
The conclusion seems to be that Parky has got us playing better. Indeed he may well have got the best out of us. But the simple truth is that our best under Parky has still been nowhere near good enough. Or am I wrong?
overall about a 15% improvement but even that isn't bourne out by results.
