An awful night in more ways than one but

edited March 2009 in General Charlton
We have to keep moving forward.
So we will most likely be in a lower division next season
We have the remaining games to show that we still battle on and we have time to get ourselves organized for next season. We can show our continued support.
The team tried hard last night against a decent organized rovers team. We had as many if not more chances. They were slicker and a good model of what we should aspire to become. Not too much money but cohesive and understanding each others' game.
It has been an awful season. Let's try to make the remaining games a preparation for the next one.
It really hurts doesn't it.
But at a time when people are losing jobs all over the place we need to keep some perspective.

  • The team tried hard!! i dont think so how we cannot get close or learn the same 5 yard throw each team is beyond me.
Parky even said we was outfought in the middle and he was right!!

  • Aspire to become like Doncaster Rovers?

Fuck me, I didn't realise how low we have sunk!
  • You cannot say that we were not trying last night. We created more chances than rovers and a number of players put in a full shift. We tried. But on the night we needed more than just effort. They were better at passing the ball round quickly on the floor. In fact a couple of moves were as good as any seen down at the valley for a good few seasons.
And we can aspire to any team that plays quality football be it arsenal real Madrid or yes Doncaster Rovers on a small budget that will soon be what we will likely have.
We have fallen a long way but that does not mean we should look down on any other team particularly when they come and give us a lesson in simple movement and triangle 5 yard passing.

Completely agree. Easy to blame it on effort, if we went 1-0 it would have made all the difference. They'd put us under pressure and create space for us on the counter.

Hvae to agree thought it was weak in a few areas

It wasn't until we went 1-0 down that we started competing and pressuring the ball. Didn't look like we fancied it up until that point to me. very strange/annoying for the ''biggest game of the season''
