Parkinson since he has taken over

taken a lot of grief the fella BUT

What, honestly do you think have been mistakes on his part? And I dont mean, not signing quality players . Realistically what more do you think he could have done, who could he have got on his budget and our position and what could he have done better with the crap position he found himself in when alan pardew (cant call him what I think) left.

I cant think off many in the current climat, for me,

Persisting with Youga, I would go with anyone else.
Playing a bit more positive, had too build on the leads we have had at Bristol and Burnley and not try to play the game out.
Signing Burton, just had to look at his record/ would rather have tried to sign a young loan player if at all possible.
Playing Dickson, He would have been witched hunted (correct term??) if he never played him/Who else is there.
Would have preferred to see Basey a bit more.

Positives for me,

Playing Elliot
Performances and effort have improved
Signings of McCevely, Murty, Soares, Ward,
JONJO SIGNING - IMO wouldnt have under Pardew
Beating Palace
Letting Kinsella get on with the team affairs on the pitch

I feel for the guy.

  • You can only wonder if he had been the replacement for Dowie what might have been,
But credit him with getting some pride back ...
  • Youga - he got McEveley in, he got injured. Could have even played Semedo in - now injured. Basey will struggle against any right wingers with pace.
Playing more positive - think he's worried about confidence, if we attack and then lose 2-1 instead of winning 1-0 or even drawing 1-0 it won't do the players any good. Not that it worked though.
Burton - if you watch him closely he's a decent enough footballer - just not a goalscorer, at all. I can understand why he got him in, experience and alternative to Gray.
Dickson - we don't have much else, had to play eventually.
Basey as I said will struggle against pace unfortunately.

    Agree with the positives.

I can see where the board are coming from, would another manager do any better with what we have, what's available , the lack of money we have to spend?

He might be able to build a team to win promotion from League One given time. Do worry that we'll struggle to find strikers that can score regularly enough though. Keeping players like Racon and Bailey will be important - otherwise we'll have near enough a completely new midfield. We're going to have quite a new squad, keeping the better players like those two could be important.

I agree with the above, but the winning, is that down to Parky or kins??

I would be happy if we signed McCeverly, Murty or Ward, but being honest I can't see them wanting to go down to the 3rd div
  • sorry totally disagree! he should have gone with Pardew and we should have had a complete clear out. Before anyone suggests money was the factor consider first how much relegation is going to cost us. I am sick of loan players and excuses after 35 years of following the Addicks have lost all heart now.
  • parkinsons league record with us
    2 wins 5 draws 10 defeats = 11 points from 17 games

    pardew this season
    4 wins 4 draws 10 defeats = 16 points from 18 games

    basically relegation

aaah but under Pardew we would still have hd a wee bit of hope ;-)
  • since he has taken over he has brought about ten players in on loan, trying to turn things around. He hasn't succeeeded, in fact we are now further adrift than ever. Compare that to Mark Wotte at Southampton. Can't bring in any loanees, playing loads of kids, best player out on loan. However, he has managed to inspire them to get some results to the extent they are are ten points ahead of us. Sean O'Driscoll said that with the players we have got we shouldn't be where we are. The fact we are is down to one man. I don't think he is up to the job personally.
  • playing our best player on the left last night with the ineffecutal Spring in the centre was an appalling decision
  • Admittedly Basey struggles against pace but so does Youga

Basey can pass and has great set piece delivery
    Youga can't do either

Basey actually looks to make a pass
Youga tries to put the ball on top of the stand

    Basey is homegrown
Youga is just a clown. It is honestly embarassing to see him sometimes.
  • I'm sure I saw McEverely playing for Derby the other day, shame we couldn't get him back.

  • I think starting one up front at home for a must win game was the wrong decision for me, said so before the game in case anyone think I'm saying this in hindsight.

    17 league games.

    2 Wins
    5 Draws
    10 Defeats

    11 Points from 51

Stats don't lie. He has been a horrendously bad. Just like everything else at the club on football side for the past 3 years.
  • But at the same time Parky hass been improving with Kinsella's aid!
  • I think we have to consider the timing of injuries to contract and loan players as well

McEveley - when he looked very promising at left back
Murty - same at right back
Fortune - centre back already our weakness
Hudson - around the same time as Fortune
Gray - Would perhaps be good alongside Dickson
Semedo - Could fill in some of the gaps above

Add to that the situation with Kandol and you have a very disruptive period.

I think we will have to be patient like Swansea and Doncaster have been. May take 3 to 5 years before we can climb out of Div 1.
  • I think recent optimism has been unfounded. The 'improvement' was based on draws at Barnsley (fighting relegation) and wins against Palace (soon to be fighting relegation and in poor form) and Plymouth (were bottom of the form table when we played them and hadn't won for ten games). If these results had come against top half teams then fair enough but they didn't. In form Donny visit and show us up for what we are.
  • but we hadn't won a league game in like 21 games before Palace so any win would obviously cause optimism!
  • There are many mitigating circumstances re. Parkinson and how badly we are doing. Lack of finance being the big'un. But in the end, he ain't good enough. There's no point sacking him now. Next season will be a new division, probably a virtually new team again. It should start with a new manager too!

    Amen to that.
