Reading some of the reports from people who state Baily and Racon where the only ones out there who put in a shift.
I totally agree that these two put in a decent shift tonight but if you take off the anger specs you would have noticed Hudson was bloody awesome out there tonight and if you would have replaced him with Fortune/Cranie (how people could have welcomed him back is way, way, way beyond me) we would have probably lost by 6 or 7.

Shelvey tried but wasn't his night, Butterfield did ok but no more, Soares wasn't in it at all, Spring was quiet, Dickson got steadily worse as the game progressed, Youga is a liability IMO.
Dickson was easily the worse for me, could see why he was a non-league player for all that time.
Hudson had another great game, but will we keep him next season? I don't think so.
Shelvey looked anxious and was unlucky (that the players werent good enough to read his passes) a couple of times with good balls. He still didnt hid like others and tried to win every header in a crappy swirling wind. Thought that corner went in from where I was sitting as well.
Dickson, would have expected him to hit the target with at least one of his efforts, think he is taking the brunt for a season long spell with crap strikers. I for one would forgive him a crap performance considering what we have to replace him with.
Still think Elliot is the best keeper I have seen in a Charlton shirt for a while, his handling and kicking is the best I have seen in a Charlton shirt in my 30 years of going.
Soares didn't do much, never really involved. Spring is tidy - that can be a good thing or a bad thing, much like similar players like Bryan Hughes and Holland. When everything's going well they look good, when you're struggling you want something more than just tidy. Racon had some good moments but I've seen him play better. Bailey was good apart from a bad decision to slide in to give away the penalty - but that's the type of player he is.
Shelvey like Racon had some good moments but can play better. Dickson I can see why he's not been in the team. He's not got a great football brain (I don't believe all this about him suddenly improving as a player, if he has it's not by much), can be greedy (if he was scoring and on form that wouldn't be such a problem) I wouldn't say he's lazy but he's not exactly the hardest working striker. Poor touches at times, has moments of skill but then miscontrols the ball the next time he gets it.
The problem was Donny passed it around us. In those conditions - and considering we'd hit a little bit of form, they are the best side I've seen at the Valley all season.
ROFL
Why is he played in the centre of midfield (where games are won and lost) while our best player Bailey is stuck out on the left
Relegation and then team rebuilding in summer and promotion campaign in autumn!!
I dont know if Youga was partly responsible but to me he is appalling as a defender and doesnt offer much going forward and would be my first key replacement. Still think Chrissy Powell would have done a better job there this year.
And a win against palace ;o)
