All over bar the shouting.

edited March 2009 in General Charlton
After tonight the faint glimmer of hope has at last been extinguished...I will NOT be renewing my season ticket next season or attending any more Bromley meetings. After 51 years man and boy I've had enough and in my condition I can also do without the stress and restless nights I've had this week.I feel as though I'm no longer an Addick, something happened that shook me rigid and it's just way too much for me to take on board.
And as a parting shot to all of you who wanted Curbs and Day out...you're a complete bunch of wankers!
And ditto to any of you who thought Chris Dickson was going to be the answer....Pah!
Good night.

Yeah that's it a football team has lost so lets all go and commit suicide, someone pass me the razor blades. Why is life worth living? For god sake grow up. It's entertainment. Granted Charlton aren't providing it at the moment but seriously I'm not looking for the nearest bridge to throw myself off, and if you think I don't care you're wrong. I WILL be renewing my season ticket as they're my club wherever they're bloody playing and against whoever but life is a little bit more important...
  • how low have we sank? any time over the last three or four years that you think we may have turned the corner we havent. Until we get a good run together when we pull 4 or 5 wins in a row i wont think we are any better than the last 3 or 4 years
  • I am with you that we are now down, but as I have said on another thread, we spent too much money last season in a failed promotion bid, so Murray and Pards are at the top of my hit list for the mess we r now in, but I am fully behind Parky for next season and hopefully it will give all those fans who think we belong in the Prem a reality check, but I respect your opinion in that Dicko is just like the rest of them, I mean he is no better a striker than Burton IMO, but I will also not be renewing next term as I am off to Leeds Uni hopefully if all goes to plan, but will atend as many games as possible home and away,

Respect to Bailey also, as the man has been a lion in the heart of our midfield all season ,people may question his ability, but Hull is an example of a club that did not have many technically gifted players last year, and I can only dream to have 11 Bailey's who wear the shirt with the amount of pride that man does, so if he is to leave due to the clause in his contract then so be it, I will not think any less of him as he has proved himself in the CC.

9 goals from midfield in a team that might go down as the worst in Division 2 History = bye bye Nicky Bailey. Good luck to him as well. His form went, but he has come back and worked his cojones off. He deserves better than to be surrounded by poor excuses for footballers.

    Couldn't agree more!!!
  • i think this goes a little deeper than tonites result i think it may have something to do with his barnie with henry on the racisms thread.
  • Soundas, take a step back, have a break.

This is a post you will regret.

Yes it can hurt, but its only football.
  • Wow thats really sad. There's a lot of anger coming off your post though so hopefully you might feel better about things tomorrow.

    all over bar the shouting?

I guess so. Dammit! Just as I was beginning to get excited about football again.

Unlike Soundas I'll probably still renew my ST. Charlton is, well, part of me I guess.

    That's all. Goodnight lifers.

    Yep, I'll be back too.
  • I, for one, have a sense of relief that the false optimism is now at an end. The hope of going to games, of seeing our results and hoping for a win week in, week out and being disappointed. I know it doesn't matter now. Let's start planning for League One now. Discussing with a fellow Lifer on he way home and it seems we'll have a decent shell of a squad next season, get rid of the dead wood and let the loanees go back and see where we are. We do need a consistent RB, about 3 centre backs (as Hudson is likely to go), hopefully we can keep hold of Bailey and a striker or two who knows where the net is in the third tier. Here's hoping we can emulate Leicester....their season in League One hasn't done them too much harm, I expect them to do well in the Championship next season...
  • I will probably not bother to renew my season ticket, with the misses having been made redundant things are tight enough and I just don't think I could comit to the outlay when there is so little entertainment on show. Will probably pick and choose my matches and then end up going to all of them anyway!
  • A season ticket holder in front of us lost her husband last Tuesday. He was only 42 and had been well until an unexpected massive heart attack. She still turned up for the game, I can't stop thinking about her and her family and the game seems almost irrelevant to me. We are luckier than we know.

    Too true....

You must sit quite near the players tunnel?
  • Yes, we do.
  • [cite]Posted By: stilladdicted[/cite]Yes, we do.

I lived in the same cul de sac as Martin opposite their house in Charlton, and only found out myself at half time, great bloke and no one deserves that.
    Rip Martin.

Lynne and I send love and thoughts to Sharon and the Family.
  • You know, the annoying thing will be once we are relegated we will probably win our last 3 or 4 games playing quality football, typical Charlton.

Dont want to give them excuses (I would be the last one to listen to them) but tonight, soon as I walked in the ground and see the wind and rain swirling around I thought, we dont need these conditions on a night when we really need to put in a performance. I know its the same for both teams.

Does anyone else think that even though we lost (to a fairly good side IMO), take the name Doncater Rovers away and replace it with Birmingham/Wolves/Reading and we would be saying we did ok and could have come away with something.

Even though we have lost PERFORMANCES HAVE IMPROVED since Oct, Nov, Dec, albeit too late.

The last 4/5 weeks we have tried to play football in patches and the plain truth is we have nothing up front, that is it simple.

For my sons and my future Grandsons, Great Grandsons, I will be renewing next season. As I dont want anybody from my family supporting anybody else. If I stop taking my son he will be watching Villa on the box whenever he can (Like he does now!!)

here here but as for not renewing and staying away, don't agree with that in the slightest and i certainly won't be following suit

    I CAN see where Soundas is coming from;
He knows that, amongst otherthings, that I was upset over something else last night.
I, too, am seriously wandering if its worth all this aggro.
I know there ARE more important things to worry about (I haven't paid this months mortgage yet), but when things build up and build up everyone has apoint where they say "No More".
Its meant to be "only a game" and "entertainment",but, sorry, its not that simple.
  • Soundas - chill mate.

As for Dickson I think a few of us have to hold our hands up and say you were/are probably right - BUT we're still not creating great chances are we.
  • LOL

Funniest rant I have seen on here for ages.

Count yourself lucky mate, I got a Reading ticket last night
  • I think he means it this time !

Sorry to read your posts on various threads.

All I have to say is please don't let what is a scummy minority spoil your enjoyment although I can understand why you are thinking as you are.

    The same goes for Soundas.
  • I've got my razor blades ready shall we all go to the next game and commit mass suicide????

It's only a game, I know it feels like more but at the end of the day you still have your friends and family!
  • Can't wait to renew to be honest, the idea of not renewing is one I don't get as a single bloke with desposiable income in a public sector job.
