The Labour party

edited February 2009 in Not Sports Related
Ladbrokes are offering odds of 33-1 that Gordon and his cronies in this shower of a party will get less than 100 seats at the next election.

That,my friends,is a steal. And i suggest you get on it if you want any chance of paying your toxic mortgages off.

They'll lose but not that badly I'd say

    lol

tbh the politics over here is as dire as the UK imo. I would think that Oakster and Can-Addick would agree me with but I may be wrong.

With Labour at about the same positions the Tories were in May 05, and the Tories just above where Labour were at the same time I wouldn't call it a steal!

Seriously unlikely, considering Labour's strength in England's big cities, the north, and Scotland - places where the Tories still don't have much of a chance (whereas Labour did manage to swing a few old true blue places 12 years back).

And the (arguably even less popular) Tory government which staggered to defeat in '97 didn't fall that low, either.

Save your cash, or donate it to a winning candidate if you want some satisfaction on election day.

The betting on when an election might be could be interesting, though.

It's be the first Thursday in May 2010, to coincide with the London borough elections.

Sadly people think so little about who or what that they are voting for that you can stick a red rosette on a pig in some urban areas and people will blindly vote for it. The same applies in rural areas only this time the rosette on the pig is blue.

Most people are too apathetic about politics in this country and that is why we have been shafted by successive governments both blue and red.

We have the worst leader in the Western World in Stephen Harper - imagine John Major but with 20 times less personality - unfortunately Obama is gonna wipe the floor with him & us :(

The Tories will be lucky to hold on to the one seat they have in Scotland. The devolution gravy train will see Scotland divided up between the SNP and New Labour.
The Welsh will vote for Plaid Cymru or Labour and the N.Irish will do what they always do!!!!
However the Tories will gain a massive majority in England. Unfortunately David 'there's Scottish blood in ma veins' McCameron still won't see the truth of what has happened to the (dis)United Kingdom. By acting to recreate democracy, equality and fairness, with the creation of an English parliament with powers equal to that of Scotland's.

Being a member of the older demographic on this board and therefore I remember a time before the 1980's, it did potently strike me the other morning when watching the news, how life goes around in infinate circles (and not just the fortunes of our beloved football club...) BUT with very obvious differences that reflect the exact time we live in. It may have taken Labour/New Labour whoever, 12 odd years and they may have had to battle against the longest sustained period of boom and growth in post war memory, but we have finally arrived at what we are best at as a country. The people who really do not give a flying feck about any so called recession, the hordes of public sector civil servants on guaranteed final salary pensions, the mass of the great unwashed and unashamed, who dont even have to wait for the giro to thud onto the mat every two weeks now as it is paid directly into their bank accounts and the old time socialists licking their lips at the chance to do battle on the picket lines again. It is going to be very interesting but very predictable and thank God for my beloved CAFC.....Oh sh!t!

That sir, is the truth of it. Spot on.
