    This whole thread is top, top quality. It's not often that the contestants on Countdown would get it (unless you're Wayne Rooney, of course). How's Stelling fitting in to the Whiteley's shoes?

    Stelling's alright, actually. Maybe a bit too slick, but it's offset by young Rachel still looking a bit nervous, so it evens out nicely.

    He's better than any of the previous presenters at actually playing the game, a couple of times I have seen him get a longer word than the contesants and Suzie and her guest.

    To be completely honest, I don't think Stelling is up to the job. Like Des Lynam he has proved that you can't go from the Football studio to the Countdown spotlight. Only Whiteley and O'Connor had the dodjy jokes, bad dress sense and that slight sense that that twinkle in their eye's wasn't just the showbiz magic, but also a bit of a thing that might have been going on with Carol that makes a great Countdown presenter.
