Coca-Cola Championship Charlton Athletic v Crystal Palace
Tue Jan 27The Valley, Floyd Rd, SE7 8BL

'That's why we're going down,' sang the Charlton faithful as the Addicks limped to another hapless defeat against Nottingham Forest. Gallows humour has arrived early at the Valley and the jokes are coming thick and fast. First, Phil Parkinson, the man responsible for 'the worst performance by a caretaker since Hong Kong Phooey', according to The Sun, was rewarded with the manager's job full-time. Then he celebrated his role by raiding the sick bay of fellow Championship sides for some short-term loan signings (did he learn nothing from Alan Pardew's demise?). And now doomed Charlton face their bitter local rivals Palace, who are riding high and challenging for promotion. Against opposition of any calibre, Charlton's slapstick defending and comedy finishing is sure so be punished, so it's easy to understand the need for humour. If you didn't laugh you'd cry. About time this weekly humiliation ceased chaps....lets try and make sure we raise our game at least......lets make the Valley noisy and intimidating and hopefully some of it will rub off on whoever plays......(didnt want to say "Team" as I dont think we have seen one this season).
