Sticking with a team

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
I feel The most obvious thing that came out of saturdays ' performance' was a total lack of cohesion or team understanding to play out any sort of game plan. It's not really suprisisng considering we have been reacting to crisis after crisis always looking for a solution through new or loan players and indeed through new managers. We need to be prepared to stick with a team that are losing and not make changes to that team. We as supporters have played our part in this, in having high expectations (last season)and wanting quick fixes.I feel the mamangers have not been strong enough to stick with a team through a storm and through the supporters criticism. Parky needs to stick with a team, we need to have patience, sit through, yes more crap matches but without all the changes of players that seems to happen endlessly. We need to manage not to boo a team off when they are one or two down at half time. I do feel that acceptance of the situation is best in the long term at the moment.

  • Yes, I agree in principle we do need some stabilty, but only when we finally find the right team and manager. You can't keep picking a team that loses every week. Gradual adjustments have to be made.Pardew stuck with Varney far too long because he was convinced he would come good. Parky is sticking with Gray and Burton for the same reasons probably. The club stuck with Pardew and now with Parky. None of it has worked. How long do you give it before you realise that what you are doing isn't working. Unfortunately drastic measures are needed to stop the slide. I would love to see the same team out every week like it used to be, but not when it plays like it is.
  • Parkinson's going the way of Pardew now, getting desperate and changing the team around a bit every game hoping it'll click.
