"Worst of my managerial career" - Parky

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
Well at least Parky accepts that was just not acceptable.

Tony Hudd from Kent Online:

Manager Phil Parkinson cut a disconsolate figure afterwards, believing he had spied the green shoots of recovery following the midweek FA Cup win at Norwich.

He pulled no punches and described the performance as "the worst of my managerial career."

He added: "We were out-fought and outplayed in every department.

"It was unacceptable and I would like to issue a public apology to our supporters who spent good money coming here to get behind the players.

"We got our first win for a long time on Tuesday but failed to build on it. I won't be calling the players in for extra training on Sunday because I think it's in the best interests of everyone that the players and myself take a break from each other."

Pardkinson - please add one more word at the end - PERMANENTLY!

    A full time break perhaps?

Edit: LOL - beaten to it!
  • That last paragraph sums it up. He's lost the dressing room already. Take a break from each other FFS. Pathetic.
  • Wont be calling them in tomorrow so they can take a break from each other?!!!!

Thats it Parkinson, strenghten that unity and team spirit that is required.

They should be in tomorrow all day and every single day, all day until performances improve not given a free pass to go out on the sauce tonight and forget about it whilst spending their unearned dosh.
  • So the players are at rock bottom. The manager is at rock bottom. Charlton are at rock bottom. I know how I feel about it. Crisis...What crisis

Don't forget that he said last week he and the players care even more than the fans...show it on the bloody pitch then, not in interviews on the OS !!!!!
  • No worries chaps....................Palace can stuff us too soon.
  • Nigel, I started tapping something out on this but as it went on I just lost the will to carry on. All I'll say is that if the man had any honour or conscience he'd walk.
  • Its not good enough and he needs to go ASAP. We lost our chance to survive when Pards went and we could have brought someone in to read the riot act to the players. A lot of people were knocking it but DiCanio would have been a breath of fresh air. Couldn't have done any worse could he and would have been fun to listen to as well.....

  • If he gets 17000 letters asking for his resignation he might ?
  • I'll give him a break. Cucking funt.

Pay me back the money I spent and I might accept your apology.

    :-)

Seems even Tony Hudd needs to take the piss in order to cope with this misery....
  • I frankly don't give a hoot right now. The squad didn't bother at all. Whatever is going on, we did not deserve to be treated like this.
  • TBF he did change half the team which won on Tuesday

The dressing room lost itself ages back, a complete split between the 'Charlton Old Guard' and the rest. This is the root of the team's trouble me thinks.

I certainly believe that the problem is with the players and I don't believe that changing the management team again is going to alter that.

Do you not think though a new manager comes in, gives everyone a fresh start and a "clean slate" as it were. Trouble is Parky was part of the previous failing management team. So if he fell out with Dickson or doesn't rate McLeod those players have no reason to prove a point knowing it'll make no difference. Fred Bloggs comes in suddenly McLeod thinks, right, now's my chance to prove myself, ups everyones game.

By the way I think it's too late now anyway, been going on for too long. Should have happened after Barnsley
  • DO you think any other football team doesnt allow tackles in training am i being niave or is every team like this but our team doesnt tackle it doesnt have any bollox in it

So who are this "Charlton Old Guard", and why the split?

NLA are you seriously saying the players aren't allowed to tackle in training?

I presume your source, if so, is one of our players that can't get a game?
