New Manager Bounce.

Norwich City had become as bad as us, which partly explains our cup win. (Not taking anything away from the young lads who were involved in the win, before people start making that an issue.)

Norwich then sack Roeder and all his back room team and put Bryn Gunn in charge a guy with no past managerial experience to my knowledge but nonetheless a completely new person coming in to the dressing room. Hey presto Norwich 4 – 0 Barnsley, makes you wonder doesn’t it.

  • No it dosnt. 99% of the people on here -------well CAFC fans in general didnt want Parky. The Board did. We all knew we needed the SPARK that a new manager can bring.

    Only 99%. I thought it was 100%
  • Parkinson's an awful manager and his CV now confirms that. However I think any chance of a "New manager bounce" senario was lost with the indecision of giving him the job straight away. The board must have known that no money was available for a new manager and they should have grasped the nettle as soon as Pardew was sacked.
Why is everything about this club just "might have been" and "if onlys" for the last 2 years?
  • At the end of the day guys, parky is working with what he has got, thats not his fault.Maybe we should actually stop and think that maybe over 75% of our troubles are the players themselves, that is not his fault. He can only fuck up so much if thats how you'd put it.The loan signings he has brought in are not bad at all so fair play!
Although one criticism against the "keep parky" bandwagon would be the fact that he changed a side that won for the first time in 17/18 games whatever it was. That is simply ridiculous. But i certainly isnt all down to him, or the board!Until our destiny is decided, the pardew regime will remain at charlton!
  • and how many of the side that beat Norwich were HIS signings .... 1 !

Therefore you can't blame "what he's got" because what about Notts Forest - no new players yet Davies wins 3 on the spin ....!

To be honest it isn't necessarily about Parky, how good or bad he might be. The fact is it shows a completely new person to the dressing room makes a positive reaction from the players and results improve.
  • I never wanted Parkinson to become our manager to be fair to him i think he has made good signings since his spell but his subsitions are awful why bring on holland for soares when we're losing 2-0 it's shambolic. He don't give other players a chance just like pardew i just hope he can turn this around.

Do not think so if he's deliberately stunting Dickson by taking off the only creative midfielder (JonJo) to bring him on - "lets hope he scores a goal and proves himself to me" as quoted by Pardky - what a joke!
  • What really does my head in is you don't particularly have to have an experienced manager to get a lift, just someone not involved in the current first team. I'm pretty sure Bryan Gunn was working on the corporate hospitality side at Norwich and has just steered them to a thumping of Barnsley. Bet after Tuesday night not too many Norwich fans would have predicted that. We have had many "moments" this season where a new manager bounce would have helped us. We have failed to take any of them, and now it's too late.
  • I would like to "bounce" our existing manager tbh.

  • maybe I am being naive but get rid of Parky and ask Keith Peacock or Steve Gritt to take over for the rest of the season and then regroup then.
  • Anyone coming in after Pardew who was new, could have said the playing sides a bit of a shambles, we have had a lot of loan players over the last 18 months, I am going to concentrate on Charlton players and 1 or 2 loan players, I am going to bring the youngsters through.

It would have been easy to make that statement, it is almost what we wanted to hear.

Parkinson couldn't and has been effectively a continuation of Pardew same loanee rubbish no new strategy.

Anyone now can come in say the top along with we are relegated and will attempt to get ourselves out of this mess and re-gruop in Div 1.
