I have to admit Billy Bragg's vocals are a bit of an acquired taste, but he writes some bloody good lyrics.

Well, he is a highly controversial artist, was always going to get comments.

I'm sure if I posted the 5 best songs of skrewdriver or the 4skins etc people would react, not that I would, dont know any of their music, but I would imagine its as controversial.

the first couple of albums were masterpieces, but then he started "towing" the (new Labour) party line.
Still love the early stuff tho (especially The "Saturday Girl").

Not wanting to take this thread down a political dead end but he wrote on the best articles I've read on how the left has let down the white working class and how he could see the reasons that they would vote for the BNP in Barking (where he grew up) even if he disagreed with them. His book "The Progressive Patriot: A Search For Belonging" covers a lot of the same ground.
