what floats your boat ?

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
I have been out most of the day & so on here catching up with today's news and I can't believe some of the rubbish that is posted considering the mes we are in.

For example - today I have learnt that we have signed another midfielder on loan (Soares) as well as making Spring's deal permanent, whilst at the same time we have let another striker go out on loan (Mcleod) to add to Fleetwood's loan extension earlier this week. I also read that both Gray and Dickson can leave if the price or deal is right, with our illustrious leader (parkinson) stating that Dickson could do with scoring some goals (no shit sherlock - perhaps playing him migh help) and that Mcleod needs some games under his belt ( ditto earlier comment).

is this enough to get posters fury.........no. what concerns many people on here is the following:

how many there were at palace last night (who gives a s**t)
what player is only on £70k per week (complete conjencture and this figure came from a Stoke fan "in the know" - yeah, right)
would we be happy beating palace and going down (eh,,,,,,no)

etc etc etc.

Is nobody bothered that our new manager has yet to win a league game and slowly he is getting rid of all our strikers (apart from , of course, the one HE signed and
is yet to score from open play) and is signing up midfielders like they are going out of fashion (mpstly on loan, of course)

Of course we're 'bothered'...however most of the gloom and doom has already been done to death by most of us...apart from a few folk such as your sad self.
The win at Norwich was a tiny step forward (albeit against poor oposition) no one here has rose coloured glasses and thinks all is well at SE7, BUT as true Addicks we live in hope...something that a saddo like you just doesn't get golfie.
Many of the postings you refer to are either black humour or light relief......both of which go straight over your head it would seem.

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
  • Who is on £70k a week?!

Maybe Parky is getting rid of what he regards as dead wood and high earners i.e. Gray and Dickson and rebuilding a side for div 1 next year sorry to say this but I think at least he is building a new fresh team.

Disagree about building for League 1 but I do think he's trying to build "his" team.

As someone said to me his signing are good pints of beer compared Pardew's Champagne.
  • we could say the same about some of your cack postings Golfie.

We won at Norwich and all you could say was "if we play like that saturday we'll lose"

    Those in glasshouses.
  • Golfie, I think we all appreciate the concerns you have but as you well know the Board have given the Manager no room to manouvre re transfers, people have to be shipped out before they can be brought it. I can confirm for you the Gray deal will deffo not happen as he refuses to go on loan full stop. Have a little faith fella expect to see a striker signed before the end of January just don't expect it to be Messi/Henry/Rooney though.

Ledge having spoken to a couple of people who did go, that statement is actually correct, Norwich are officially worse than Charlton now.
  • it don't matter mate -we've been crying out for a win and we got one by hook or by crook we got that monkey off the back

can't 'build' a new fresh team on loan signings as by the very nature of them they are not going to be around long enough (a month in most current cases). When they have gone you build a new team around more loaneees.

so we shouldn't rule out a Benty return yet then ?

    What Marcus :-)
  • of course Marcus. Don't want Baby Bent back, he scored too many goals for my liking.

Darren Bent up front, even for just a month ........ exactly what we are missing.

    Dream on Oggy, if only.

Rumoured on SSN to be going to Villa. Great move for him as would be playing under a good manager at a great club. Hope for his sake it happens.

agree totally. Tottenham don't deserve him. As with Youngy he deserves to play under a DECENT manager and I mean that not just in that he is a good manager but a decent bloke too.
  • Bent, Ashely young and I'd Bong a Whore would be a scary forward line.

Carew is getting on and injured (although I'd have him at the Valley in an instant)

Maybe Parky is testing to see how they perform before he signs them permanently and can play in the league below. For example I can see Murty signing permanently esp IF we go down. I agree with the process of getting more perms i.e Matt Spring in but the club doesnt have the dosh to do more of this.
  • "As someone said to me his signing are good pints of beer compared Pardew's Champagne"

    Pardew's signings were always Asti.

    Dowie's were, well use your imagination. . . .

we couldn't afford to sign Murty or Soares for example. Murty isn't that over the hill that you'd get him on a free plus I'd imagine he'd still command decent wages, and he's better than League 1.
