Dickson to Gillingham?

  • Fair enough. Didn't realise the Gills were down in Div 2 - thought they had played Millwall this season.

However, to go back to my original point, nobody can say that Dickson is not capable of scoring at Championship level until he's given at least 2-3 games on the spin which Burton has had and proved he's not up to the job.

And before anyone jumps in yes I think McCleod should also be given a run of 2-3 games to see if he can do it (though on the evidence of Coventry at home very much doubt it).
But I'd rather see him given a chance than having to watch Burton again.

yep that is what he has been told that he needs to improve his link up play, and has stayed back doing this for hours after with the coaches and other players

Parky and Pardew have both said the same publicly

Damien Matthews on the other hand loves having him the team for the goal threat he offers and uses Jon Jo and others to link up and lay Dicko in

Damian Matthews to be next Charlton boss. You heard it first from NLA. LOCKED ON. FACT!

Alright he was playing non-league a season or two ago but so what.
Sasa Illic was lining up against the Dog and Duck once upon a time. The Very next season, Manchester utd.
If we had signed Kightly, loaned him out to a League One side where he'd done exceptionally, there'd be people on here attacking him for getting ideas above his station if he thought he might get in our misfiring side. You'll not win with that (or any other reasoned argument).
  • Henners in all seriousness

would you consider DM as a good potentail mgr of the addicks.

I think if we keep him here expose him to more and more football at the level he is at now i think he has great potential.

His teams play excellent football and i think with our cash flow issues he is the one person at the club who could get the yoof coming through to play together as he would have had them potentially at all 3 stages of their careers

Youth, Ressies and then perhaps 1st team

if we go down there must be a damn good cahnce of us seeing all of them boys from the youth cup team last season in full blown charlton shirts and first team

    what do you think

i may just go down and have a monkey on it to happen

It was a joke but who knows. I know nothing about him and youth football is not the same as first team.

With cutbacks likely he is going to be playing a bigger role with the reserves (assuming he is still around) so would come into the reckoning if and when Parky leaves.

Does he have the clout to lead the first team? Don't know? As you say a lot of them would he "his" kids in any case and those left are likely to be players with lesser egos who may judge him more on his talents and coaching ability rather than how many medals he won.

Would he be accepted by the fans? No, would be dismissed as the cheap option, no experience at this level from the off, sadly. Plus he's not "Charlton thru and thru" and did in fact play for Palace like all our best managers ; - )

That doesn't mean things wouldn't change if we started winning.
  • you old synic you ;-)

I think we may well see him in years to come as the next addicks boss

    Cynical? me? Never! : - )

Looked him up on wikipedia. Not much info other than that he is a youth development officer for Maidstone and played 20 odd games for Chelsea in 5 years before going to Luton (loan), Palace and some other small teams.
  • Don't be surprised if there is a player plus cash element to it. Andy Crofts is being touted about and would be a surperb signing for us.

id rather see snodin as our next manager than matthews.

    who he?

Rubbish mate, been Gills a few times for a laugh, no good for Championship League 1 at best...Oh
  • Crofts-24 year old Welsh International- Championship experience, tiger in both penalty boxes on loan at Peterborough until end of the month, was Gills Captain until he fell out with Mark Stimson when he took over as boss
  • Crofts would be a good signing i would however prefer their striker Jackson.
  • Another player worth a look at is centre back Gary Richards- a good old fashioned no-nonsense defender as in -he tackles the opposing players before they get within sight of goal (a concept Hudson/Fortune could do with employing)
