Semedo out for 2 months

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
First Bouazza, then McEveley now Semedo.

We still need a striker, now we've got to replace Bouazza and McEveley.

Though we do have plenty of central midfielders, I hope Racon is back soon.

Charlton received a second injury blow in the space of 24 hours on Monday when Jose Semedo was potentially ruled out for the next two months.

The Portuguese midfielder sustained an ankle injury early in the Championship match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, when he had to be replaced by Matt Holland.

The news followed hot on the heels of Jay McEveley's return to Derby County following a recurrence of his dislocated shoulder that he suffered in mid-December.

The defender's loan spell at The Valley, which was due to expire in late February, has now been cancelled.

Charlton first-team physio Steve Allen said: "Unfortunately, Semedo injured his ankle following a heavy challenge on Saturday, and is due to have a small operation on his syndesmosis joint on Monday night.

"Hopefully, his recovery will be quicker if we have a small operation now rather than treat it conservatively, but he will be out for a couple of months."
