  • This is getting beyond a joke!
  • I am trying to find a positive out of this catalogue of bad luck we are having & the only one I can think of is eventually perhaps we will stumble across a team/formation that works by luck more than judgement. Today just gets better & better :-(
  • If it wasn't for bad luck we wouldn't have no luck at all.

And from a foul the ref didn't see fit to even talk to the player about. Don't think it was nasty or deliberate but caught him very late as he played the ball cross field. Left us with five non-tackling mid-fielders.

Racon and Bailey it is then

Didn't work for Pardew, don't think it'll work for Parkinson.
  • It worked for Curbishley and he lived off it for years.

    ;-)
  • so what ? Not that great is he. In fact our midfield will be more dynamic without him. The other day my mate and I were saying that you can no longer name a player who when you got to a game you found out was out injured and you'd say 'oh shit'. At the moment no-one is irreplacable (Jonjo perhaps excluded).

I know you are on a downer about everything at the moment N. but surely it is better to have a player available and able to play rather than in the treatment room regardless of how good or bad you think he is.

It was noticeable that when he went off we lost control of the game and after that Forest only had to wait for us to make a mistake. Would Semedo have done what Holland did? who knows but we missed him and will miss him unless Racon is fit soon.
  • Laughed when i saw the headline.

Am waiting for 'Jordan buys the Valley and turns it into the world's largest sunbed' just to complete another fine day.
  • Hopefully Racon isn't too far away. Semedo is our only holding player and can at least cover the distance and get stuck in something the rest of our midfield lack.

Also a blow as I wanted to see Racon/Semedo again as they looked good vs QPR
  • I think this is bad news. I agree that on saturday it all went downhill when Holland came on for Semedo.

all I'm saying is that no-one is that good that we are going to miss them desperately. Semedo is okay but nothing more. Maybe with Racon/Shelvey or Bailey/Spring or another combination we might be more dynamic, more forward thinking, score more goals etc. I'm sorry for him that he is injured but as I said there isn't really one player at the moment where you'd say 'shit, how are we going to cope without him' or 'how are we going to score with him out injured' or 'our defence will be crap with him missing'. We are a team of average players who when out are repalced with another average player.
  • oh, and maybe Jem will join on loan now after all.

Some would argue Bailey and Holland do. Or at least when they are on form.

I'd rather see Semedo at right back, not sure he looks completely comfortable in midfield. Sometimes he looks good other times like he should be at full back.

Holland is too slow to catch them to get stuck in.

He did play very well at CH v Norwich. Very impressive and his back headers found a Charlton player.
  • Oh FFS! This HAS to all be a bad dream,no one team can that much bad luck.
  • imo we will miss him.
didn't rob eliot or wagstaff state that he'd (semedo) would be first on his team sheet at a recent Q&A?
if a fellow professional holds him in that regard then i can't see how we won't miss him.
  • this is bad news could have filled in at left back if not used in the middle

We know Parkinson rates him, probably like Kishishev was when he played in midfield, fans get frustrated but he players really appreciate the work he does.

I agree, wouldn't mind him playing there more often. We have other options in midfield but not at centre back, if we can't sign one it could help that problem.
  • Absolutely gutted,

    .............still...inconsolable.............

  • Not too woorried about Smeedo, more concerned with the injury to McElveley who has been an inspiration, we're going to miss him more- Now Parky's gotta look for another full back- Danny Jackman of Northampton would fit the bill- played in the Championship with Gillingham, scores goals, great left foot and even though he is small wins an amazing amount of headers. He was according to Gillinghams programme of two weeks ago, NORTHAMPTONS SECOND HIGHEST SCORER WITH THREE THIS SEASON-more than most of our forwards put together.

Got anything on YouTube by any chance??
  • Back in training this week according to the OS programme.

Too late now but another injury that we could have done without.
  • I agree. I like Jose. I wonder if he will be around next season? IMHO he would be a big player for us in Div one next season.

Hope he stays. Good enough for this division let alone league 1 and can play FB, CB or CM. With a much smaller squad that could be important.
  • Hope he stays; I've always liked him. But now this thread has been revived, one can't help noticing that it seems to be another of our injuries that has taken much longer to get sorted than it should. We were told on Jan 12 he was out for two months, but he's only just back in training three months later, which means the original prognosis was over-optimistic by a margin of 50 per cent.

Perhaps I'm wrong and I'm just impatient. But my perception is that this keeps happening with Charlton injuries. ZZ comes to mind...

To be fair Nigel, we were told Gary Poole was out for two weeks originally. I'm still waiting to see him again.
  • another one of our nothing players who didn't offer much in an attacking threat and was a bit too rash and headless on the defensive front i know he didn't appear much (12 starts 1 win 4 draws 7 defeats) but next season league one might be his level

And the win was with him at full-back, so with him as a midfielder we didn't win a game. Hope you're right and he can play at league 1 level if he stays.
  • Hope Semedo stays - I rate him.
