How many players have we used this season?

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
Last season we used 38 different players in league and cup games. As up to saturday how many have we used so far?

Comments

  • 31 according to here, third after Southampton and Derby

Interesting to see our assist stats, Sam has 4, Basey and Bailey 3.

Bouazza and Varney have had the most shots for us. Not a surprise really.

Iwelumo giving away the most fouls in the league, he was second last season.
  • I wish we'd have a small close knit squad like some teams do. Everyone would know each others strengths and names.
  • 31 plus Wagstaff in the cup against Yeovil
  • How many good players have we used in the past 3 years?

That's the problem, Pardew tried to build the opposite. A big squad with all types of players, all young hoping it would all come together and they'd one day make a good Premier League team.

Most clubs in this league have squads like that. I've not been impressed by many teams we've played, most of them have just been hard working and organised with a few good players.

  • I think it was new record last season with 37 or 38. You've got to hand it to the Pardewkinson axis, records are tumbling all the time.

If we'd had a small close knit squad, after injuries, etc, we'd have had only about 8 players in the team to start the Norwich game.

    Edit: forgot the smiley, duh!

  • Perhaps the idea is to chivvy Colin Cameron along in updating Valley 500 :-)
  • Valley 1000 due out in May?
  • Actual football players? About 3.
  • And the've all been loanees ..........

Bumped this on the realisation that 24 of the 35 have appeared IN THE LAST FOUR GAMES.

I find that quite extraordinary. We complained that Pardew was forever chopping and changing and didn't know what his best team was. Under Pardky it has actually got worse.

Those four games, of course, represent the period since he was made permanent manager. And I'll repeat the stat because it's so mind-boggling I find it hard to take in : since getting the job he has used 24 players on the pitch in four games.

If you don't believe me , count them ! Twenty of them have started at least one game and four more have played as subs.

And then in his post-match comments yesterday he said he needs to change the team around again (more loanees?) because we don't have the right mentality.

The plot has been lost, I fear...
