Amid all the 'cutbacks' and our streamlined squad for this season, we now have the following centre mids on our books:
ZZ
Holland
Racon
Shelvey
Spring
Bailey
Semedo
Sinclair
Wright
Arter
Ten centre mids, when you can only play 2 or 3.
Take it as given that ZZ is gone, how the hell do you go about getting a settled pairing out of that lot, particularly when what appears to be the best is the one the club apparently want to play the least ?

Holland will be gone in the summer.
Shelvey will be gone come Feb.
Spring and Bailey in the mid for next season.
Semedo wil go back to Portugal in the sumer.
Sinclair/ Arter will be let go and maybe Wright as a back up.
There you go ...
Racon and Semedo in the middle,
Spring wide ala Graham Stuart
Shelvey pushed forward.
Bailey on the bench or even full back.
And Basey can play CM as well
I don't really understand the negativity surrounding Spring. He's been likened to one Bryan Hughes.
Hughes is playing in the Prem, and would do a good job for us now.

I agree, thought he looked ok for a guy who has only just arrived. Will be a good acquisition IMO.
Which begs the question, why have so many CMs on our books when for our biggest game of the season, the manager obviously felt forced to play a fella who is not match fit and had never met the rest of the team before ?
:)
"thanks for your intrest Steve but after the Boards strategic review and the massive improvement under Pardew oooppps sorry Parkinson we have desided to stay with them --- opps again, him. He also cares much more than the saps opppps , fans"
As said Basey can also play there, Ambrose has in the past. We also have Yussuff and Jensen who are central or left midfielders. No surprise Pardew let Dorian Smith go, he had no chance of breaking through when we literally had about 13 or 14 other options in his position.
Pardew's fault, over 10 CMs but only 2 CBs.
I think Semedo is better off at right back, always been solid when he's played there.
I'd like to see Bailey and Racon, both can win the ball and help in attack. I like Jonjo playing behind the striker, best position for him at the moment.
Holland on the bench, bring him on near the end. Give Wright and Arter games when we can.
Not impressed with Spring, but as said he signed on Friday and probably hadn't even trained with the team yet. Might be better of in a wide position, not sure if Parkinson will use him there though.
Dean Sinclair we can let go, much rather see Wright and Arter come through, they've got more potential.
Racon
Shelvey
Holland
Wright
And one still to prove himself:
Bailey?
I'd keep Semedo. Got his own song.
Spring, Bailey, Shelvey, Wright, Semedo
The only ones I have question marks over are Racon (whether we can keep him), Holland (age and contract) and Sinclair (will he want to stay?).
Basey can also play there but I'd have him as our first choice left back. And have Semedo as back up at right back.
He has proven himself, and anyway we're going to get relegated and he was one of the best players in League One last season.
Really ? He went to Colfe's.
Can't see it happening now that Spring has come in.
uhmm, wouldn't surprise me though. Spring still hasn't officially signed yet and we were talking to Jem as late as Friday afternoon.
