I took a good look.....

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
around the ground on Saturday.

Over 24,500 there, and not too many empty patches.

Think it may be a few years before we see the ground that full again.

Will areas close next season ?

The cost saving way would be to either close the South, or either of the Upper Tiers. But i doubt they would want to move the away fans from their designated area, the North Upper is recognised as the most hardcore of areas, while the West Upper contains some of the more affluent fans the club would want to keep happy.

  • If/when we drop into League one, there must be a fair chance the whole chuffin' place will shut!
  • I'd be tempted to shut the North Upper to be honest.

When the tier was added on and the old "covered enders" were moved up there I think it was a bit missold in terms of an atmosphere generator (love that phrase now!).

Think they should move us all back downstairs. ;-)
  • Yeah thought had a look around great crowd considering think we willtouch near that again this season but next season i tihnk it will be around the 14,000 mark
  • Palace tue's dont forget......

Completely wishful thinking I realise, but I bet it wouldn't cost much to take the seats out of the Lower North and make it standing, surefire way of improving the atmosphere. We could keep it like that as long as we're in League 1 and for the first two years back in Championship if we ever managed to get promoted.
  • You know Mr largo, that certainly is an issue worth considering. Would give it a unique selling point, and if you made it ST holders only, it that may tempt a few people in the summer that would not renew.
  • Apart from the standing option mentioned, the obvious section to close would be that part of the ground (lower north) as it has the worst views in the ground. Never mind what it looks like on the box eh?
  • Might put something in writing to the club once relegation's been confirmed. Can't see them doing it in a million years but would be interesting to see there justification for not doing it.

    Cost

    Getting a license for it.

  • Leciester have a 32,500 capacity and their attendances in League One have ranged from 17,000 to 24,000. Suppose it does help they're top of the league!

    Cost.
Could we just invite Millwall to sit there for a game? It would cost nothing then to have the seats ripped out.
  • A lot of comps about Saturday, my pal had access to 200 via a local kids sports club, and I was joined in the North West Quadrant by about 30-40 from another local club all doing my head in.
  • Mr. Irving.
When you say "South" surely you mean the "Jimmy Seed Stand".
    Thank you for your time.
    Yours sincerely
    Mr. MOG.
