When is the last time we were totally outplayed?

edited January 2009 in General Charlton
Seriously - we are IN all the games I go to. It's always tight and yet we constantly keep losing. Defensive blunders mostly

It's bizarre because 1 win and suddenly we might get a bit of luck and so on. We are so close to getting it right sometimes.

I think the 2-2 with Derby was the killer morale wise

I'm just hurt and confused right now. We desperately need a stroke of luck - an unexpected hero (dicko / mxclown)

:-(

  • i think plymouth away killed us.To take the lead in the 92nd minute and come away with a draw was heartbreakin
  • We were outplayed at Donny and we won that.
  • Answered your own question a bit there, Swisdom - defensive blunders.

It's them and not being able to score, you can play as well as you like but if you can't finish your chances, and don't stop the other lot scoring theirs, you're going to lose more often than not.
  • Wolves. They were unbeatable.

I dont agree. We have missed some glorious chances at key stages in games.

And some of our defensive blunders have come from poor midfield play.

So you could read that we are shite all round but I would also argue we have been a whisker away from bagging points in many of these games.
  • when was the last time we won the midfield battle ? Against Reading we did, look at the result !!!!!!!!!

    How about today!

No they weren't. We outplayed them for large parts of the game. Had Varney managed to hit the traget from about 3 yards out rather than sticking it wide, that game could have been very different.

Instead it was the strating point of things to come. Not taking our chances and giving away sloppy goals.

quite right a costly defensive blunder

  • Burton had two great chances in the first 10 minutes. If he'd put on of those away, it might have been a different story.
  • The thing is, over the last 10 games or so, we have played mainly those teams in the bottom half. So we shouldn't be outplayed. We've got games against much stronger teams coming up - maybe perversely we'll do much better against them.

    I did say mostly.

And I am not just digging at the Defs - midfield have played their part in defensive cockups

Truth is we have been weak in all departments which is why we are bottom of the league.

Annoyingly several other teams have been no better but have capitalised on our mistakes and have bagged the points.

What I cant work out is whether:

    a) we are still in decline
    b) we have stablised
    c) we have turned the corner

    I am somewhere between b) and c)
