Where do we go from here?

Apart from down....

I think we all know we are going down, and so must Parky and the board.

So do we:

a) Go down the "Derby route", admit it, start planning as best we can for League One?

or

b) Keep going as we are - moving a few guys out, a few in, 19 cup finals, we can do it....

For me, get out as many of the the high wage earners as we can now - Zheng, Ambrose, Holland, Weaver, Gray, Toddy, Hudson, etc (difficult I know, but, hey, someone bought Deon Burton), and end the loans of the likes of Waghorn and McEveley.

Instead, bed in the people who may be there next year - the likes of Basey, Shelvey, Dickson, McLeod, Elliot, Wright etc. That way they are getting first eam football and getting a chance to play with each other.

Obviously the possible problem is that if we are getting thumped every week, then it is going to have a demoralising effect on those we need to be confident next season. Would leaving some players such as Bailey and Fortune in the team help to avoid this?

So I think maybe a) in action but not word, don't admit we're going down a la Derby, but start to plan for next year.

What do others think?

  • Does it matter what we think? The board don't listen to us - they give Parky the job

The management don't listen to us - Shelvey doesn't play regularly until 2009, we sign Deon Burton, we don't give three of our own strikers a real chance and we play 1 up front in our biggest game in over 10 years ....!

    Why bother.....
  • Go down the "Derby route", admit it, start planning as best we can for League One...

and a fat lot of good that did them !

You are right, Supaclive, I'm never going to ask any question that won't make a literal difference to the world ever again.

    But, would you rather:

    1. Kelly Brook or Cheryl Tweedy?
    2. One leg a foot longer than the other, or arms that don't bend?

That would be the argument for b), I think.
  • There is no "apart from down". That's it, game over, Auf wiedersehen, Sayonara, au reviour, see ya later alligator, good night mr chips.
  • I put that so no one answered "down" to the thread title.

    Because that much is obvious....
  • Where does it go from here?. . . . .
Is it down to the lake I fear?

  • I agree about the wage earners but I would like to sign McEverley, if poss
  • Time for the Board and Parky to make a statement. I did not go yesterday, haven't been for a while, but hearing they only played one up front stinks. Hindsight may well be wonderful thing, but when you are at home you have to go for it and I cannot see how playing one up front shows intent. I hope Parky and the team are freezing their tits off now in New Eltham because it looks as though we cant train enough at the moment. We cant keep clean sheets, we cant hold a lead and when was the last time we scored 3 in a game? When will all this end?

Understand where you are coming from in principle but to be fair young Jonjo works so hard he is almost like a second striker.

The problem yesterday for once wasn't that we didn't create chances it was the fact that we couldn't bury them.

    Hence the calls for Dickson.
  • Like most I've only seen Dickson play the odd cameo. And I agree, everyone else seems to have been given a go, so why not give him 3 or 4 games to prove himself. Big him up, build him up and tell him regardless, he will start and play at least 60 odd minutes. The fact is we have bought Mcleod, Dickson and Fleetwood on the back of them playing regurlarly and banging them in full of confidence, albeit at a lesser standard. All Pardew and now Parky have done is left them all in the shadows and taken any momentum and self belief away which is dreadful man management. Sure they would have said they needed to earn their stripes but Gray apart, because he has at least bagged 7, what have any of the others done ? Give Dicko a go and then if it does pay off then at least we will all have seen him have a chance.
  • He's pony though Spanish.
  • i think a master plan could be we start to field the same 11 every week (subs permitted for injuries only). either they play into form or we continue losing. either way it cant get worse!!! wage bill probably haved.
  • Off it

how do you know he is pony where have you watched him play for more than a half and given a run in the team then we can see if he is shit

the same way it amazes people that some want him to play it amazes others how he cant get a game
  • the only time hes had a good run of games was at gills,he didnt look very pony there.
  • The fact is he's never been given a proper stint. Remember he came on against WBA in the cup and nearly turned the game with his first touch. He looked very lively. Look at how not being first choice affect Daren Bent at Spurs. Everyone here knew he could score, he had self belief. Would just be interesting to know if he was told, here's 4 games, go and make a name for yourself and play with freedom. With the current lot up front what harm could it do. Moreover, it might even make those being dropped, that they need to up their game !
  • I'd definitely say a) after today....
