I don't know what you all do for a living - but I'd reckon that if you were this incompentent you'd be out on your ear by now, so why shouldn't they be ?
You really don't get it do you Golfie? Sack them (despite the fact it's THEIR club - so why would you sack yourself?) or get them to walk and replace them with who exactly?
In case you never noticed we lost over £11million last year. Who's going to fund that if the board "walk" as you suggest they should do? You?
Wahhorn will go on to be a decent striker, not World class, perhaps a premier league player, but definitely a first team regular, you can see it in his game. He has terrific awareness and plys as well off the ball as on it.
If Andy Grey were to double his goal tally by the end of the season you'd say 14 goals was alright, no way near what we should expect but seeing as we are all in a mood to make allowances for shit players who have done bugger all for the club all season (Dicko, McLoeod), let just remember the exception personal circumstances that Andy Grey has had to endure and STILL played football right through it. Or maybe not, let just slag the poor bastard off, if it makes you feel better.
What are his (Gray) personal circumstances that people keep talking about- please can someone enlighten me . His head is not there on the pitch and so he shouldn't be playing- sort him out mentally and he may look like the player he was at Burnley.
I will stick my neck out... If he's such a good player then how come, since he requested a transfer, not a single club has made an offer? The answer is simple, he's not good enough. When he leave us he'll go on to do bugger all.
[cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]Dickson, Fleetwood and McLeod are utter pony.
Whereas Gray, Burton, Todorov and Wagthorn are worldbeaters?
Where did I say that? They're shit as well - its just that people here keep calling for them (Dickson in particular) so I thought it best to point out that they were toss. Dickson has the first touch of a rapist, plays with his head down so much its a wonder he doesn't run into the back of his marker every time he gets the ball and can't complete a pass of more than five yards accurately.
We haven't got ANY strikers at the club capable of scoring regularly in the Chumpionship - with the exception of Gray who has issues in his personal life, and plays better in a team that actually gets the ball into the f***ing box regularly. We're shit - utter shit - with the only brights spots being Shelvey, the signing of Spring (who is patently short of fitness but should go on to be a good signing for us) and Elliott (who has the makings of a good, solid keeper)
There is clearly a lot of emotion in this thread. I hope when you have had chance to reflect that you will realise that we have a lot to be grateful to Richard Murray and the board. Remember they got us into the Prem as well. The board love this club as much as any of us and must again be funding the transfer window activity now.
I don't think the board (and we are really talking about shareholders) want to get out of the club but are prepared to go if they found someone better able to fund the clubs future.
As I think some have said, you can't sack shareholders anyway you have to buy them out. No one will buy a club with troublesome fans - look at Newcastle.
The board's intent is good as is everyone involved with the club - players, staff, fans and board. We all want the same thing so lets get behind the Addicks!
Lets not forget the board would like to walk, thats what Zabeel was all about, they wanted to get people in who would take us to a level that they were no longer able to. Unfortunately and as our luck would have it now, the world economy folded, Dubai became pressured, we can only hope that there is a white knight somewhere.
The Board should indeed be praised for their investment, but they should not be immune from criticism.
The basic problem for me is that they have been trying to recoup that money for two or three years, since the first rumours the club was for sale.
If you or I worked for an organisation where the owners wanted out, the directors had little relevant business expereince, a series of piss poor managers were put in place and loads of temps were brought in to the prime roles, we would not be bothered to perform and would be looking elsewhere for our careers and future income.
The Board have created this climate that can only create defeat and decline. As true supporters they will know the only solution in a climate where they are not going to get their money back because of the economic downturn (created by the same banking system where many of them gained their money at the economy's expense) is for them to sign up for the long term, turm their loans to shares, and become real heroes by stabilising the club they had done so much for before their decision to recoup their investments.
it appears that our main problem is down to money and instability. ever since the big money deal with sky was signed all ambitious clubs (premiership or championship) have felt that their very survival is based on being in the premiership. to that ends our well run and successful club (over the last 10 years) attempted to secure that aim. they set out a business plan to ensure that this would materialise. curbishley some might say had had his day and they set about finding a successor to take over and push on. stability had been our key assett, but this has now disintegrated. with the major investment of two years ago (the club said when dowie was spending that he had spent the next year or two's budget) the club set out its stall and failed in dramatic fashion. so now we are a small club again (assetts) with a team of very average players out of form.
unlike the boards of most premiership clubs ours is made up of fans. i know which i would prefer. i believe that our board did the right thing in attempting to secure our premiership status but i dont think anyone now has a quick fix plan to turn this around, only continued support of our club. if Charlton remain in the lower leagues for the next 10-20 years so be it. i know the majority of you supported them through the barren years with the only success measure each season being a derby win.
it isnt about the premiership, star players and their wags, billionaire investors or being on the cover of 4-4-2. this is about ensuring that we protect The Valley as our home and we wear our badge with pride. we are all Charlton Athletic fans and always will be!!!

Who's the apologist?
I think you will find the club turned their back on him, that may be because he's not good enough, but we will never know.
next.
