Tyson ready to upset Charlton again

NATHAN Tyson is ready to celebrate signing his new Nottingham Forest contract by upsetting a couple of his old friends.

The striker scored a superb goal in the 3-0 FA Cup win at Manchester City last Saturday before inking a deal to keep him at the City Ground until the summer of 2011.

And as he lines up against bottom side Charlton today, he intends to fire Forest further clear of trouble and deepen the misery for the suffering Addicks.

Tyson is relishing the game after causing the then Premiership Charlton all sorts of problems two years ago when the Reds dumped them out of the FA Cup.

The striker said: "Every time I have played against them I seem to have done well. It is going to be a good game. One of my old team-mates Graeme Murty is on loan there and the boss is Phil Parkinson, who I used to play with at Reading.

"He has always been a big influence on me and is someone I very much respect. I do wish him well in the job. But I hope we upset him today.

"We want three points against them. We go there confident after last week but we cannot take it too light heartedly, we still have to go there and do a good job.

"You have to put that out your mind because the league is more important than the cup.

"We had a nice day out at Manchester City, we got the right result but it is back down to business, the real hard work and that is Charlton."

With his new contract now signed, the 26-year-old says he can focus all his energy on helping Forest to Championship safety.

"I am very pleased to get that out of the way," he said. "We had been there or thereabouts with the talks and it was just a matter of time and a bit of thinking.

"There was speculation, and that will always happen when a player's contract is up at the end of the season."

He added: "As far as I am concerned that has been put to bed now and I am here for the next two and a half years.

"I got offered a contract before Christmas and I said to my agent I am not going to do anything until after that period, I want to focus on the football and sort that afterwards.

"So it was really perfect timing after the FA Cup win to announce the new contract."
