  • 2 behind me said it,
but as i had previously disagreed people questioning borats free kicks against our numerous fruitless corners (on this board), i wanted him to take it.

Errrm.... from Wednesday's Times match report:
“It will be nice to look at the papers and see us off the bottom,” Reed said. “I’ve been preaching perseverance and we’ve kept on doing the right things.” He got one thing wrong, however. “When we got the free kick I was screaming at Talal to let Andy Reid have it,” he admitted.

    And the Guardian:
So much of Charlton's play had gone through Andy Reid that Friedel could be excused for having expected the midfielder, hovering over the ball with his left foot primed, to take the shot. He seemed astonished when El Karkouri struck it instead and the ball was past him before he moved. "I was screaming at Talal to let Reidy have it," said Les Reed, Charlton's manager. "We try to get a right-footer and a left-footer on the ball and obviously both of them will have wanted to have the last chance of the game for us."
  • My converstion with my old man went something like this

"I hope that c*unt doesnt take it"..........

    "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH"

    "WE'VE GOT TALAL........."

  • In all fairness his set pieces are generally cr*p, and that one was no different - just that the wall were so bad and whoever that was who ran in front of Friedal completely masked his view.

Had the keeper just bent down and picked up his tame effort I somehow think we'd all have a different view of him this morning (mine hasn't changed cause of that goal)....however it's all if's and but's as it went in and things like that can change a season...

Think we look more dangerous at corners now with Reid taking them, he knocks a nice ball over
  • Yep I'm guilty as well. He still takes a sh*te free kick anyway ! I suppose he's gonna persevere with that free kick for the next twelve months!
  • Did anyone else wait for a moment for the referee to blow his whistle to make us take it again?

"Did anyone else wait for a moment for the referee to blow his whistle to make us take it again? "

Nope - as soon as it hit the net I was in cloud cuckoo land. It was only in the pub later that it occurred to me that I didnt even look to see whether the ref had actually given it ..........
  • I celebrated alright! One of those classic ones where you seem to make mad eye contact with about ten people around you.
  • Me too - I didn't want him anywhere near it.

Just seen it on Sky and it's certainly a strange one - wasn't even in the corner!

Fair play tho - it could be the making of our season! On the downside, it does of course mean that he'll be taking ALL of our free kicks from now on!!!
  • I sit in Lwr West !!!! Yawn yawn and the guy i go with said if Borat takes this i'll not renew my season tkt next yr, Cue a giant hug and huge smile.

    Yep we;re good friends. !!

See in the upper north next season
