no that is something mr tango said should happen when youth players are knicked from clubs, after bostock; as much as I hate to say fair point.
  • Thanks, Scruffle. I knew I'd heard something like that somewhere. Didn't realise it was of the orange variety!
  • Shame we didn't get that clause as Defoe is now the most expensive British forward.

What, has he even racked up more in fees than Marcus Bent's running total ;-)
  • Good to read that Defoe demanded his £700k loyalty bonus from Pompey as he hadn't asked for a transfer. Pompey refused, so Spurs paid him.

His mum knows, when it's a good time to buy a house.

I mention this the other day on the Defoe and loyalty thread.
  • There is a % clause on Bostock.

There was a percentage clause on Defoe if I remember it rightly. But what the Spurs and Whammies agreed to do was value Zamora as part of the deal. So hence the fee was lowered for Defoe and thus a lower ammount to take a chunk out of. Think I'm right in saying this.

There was a percentage fee and I think all told we made a £1m plus out of a player who never played a game for us, albeit that was a lot less than the money we'd have got had he stayed. I think WHU tried to lower the deal by including Zamora but Charlton complained, it went to a tribunal and we got slightly more.

Nope, we only had the original sell on percentage.
