Also, how do you buy shares?

Just wondered if this would help to increase supporters influence or is it a no brainer?

  • Not really. It gets you into the shareholders meeting, but gives you zero influence. Too many of us sold them when they went private again.

On reflection we (ordinary supporters who held shares) should have got together as a group, and we should have elected the supporters director. Too bloody late now. But speaking for myself, I never in my worst nightmares thought it would come to this, at least while Richard Murray was still involved.

Contact Chris Parkes if you want to buy some shares, they are avilable via a broker who'll find someone who wants to sell.

As for the point of buying them...you gain access to the AGM and it does give you the additional right to ask questions of the club there, plus you can contact the board if you require answers to anything, but the chances are you'll get a bland answer referring you to previous statements, published accounts etc. You won't get any juicy gossip that you can repeat here for example. You may also find that whoever you contact will refuse to answer if the club is in a "closed" period which happens just before the publication of interim/full results when they won't want any price sensitive information to leak.

Other than that unless you can afford to hoover up a serious shareholding your influence will be negligible.
  • when the club is relegated the shares will obviously be even cheaper if they have not all been sold by the major shareholders by then.

would be good if real supporters bought them all up

I think you'll find the majority of shareholders now are 'real' supporters.
