There was a John Hughes who was a big goal scoring Scottish winger in the seventies but he is probably too old and not this one.
  • Yogi is a top manager and a VERY good man manager.

His teams always play football on the floor.

Some of you lot know totally nothing about football. . . .
  • The Falkirk FC website mentions interest from England for their manager but you have to register to access the information. BBC sports were reporting on a Scottish newspaper report linking him with us and Blackpool.

    Is it the old winger?
  • No that was the old Celtic forward.

You'll probably remember Yogi off Blooper programmes, as the player who ran around the pitch naked doing a warm up with the presenter in front doing a piece to camera.
  • Good manager ?
  • I never self-promote, but I am at the stage where I wake in the morning and ask myself, 'Have I taken Falkirk as far as I possibly can?'" Hughes told the Daily Record.

"I've not heard from Blackpool or Charlton and it is only speculation, but if the opportunity came to manage either of those clubs I would have to consider it seriously.

"It is flattering that clubs may be interested in you. It might upset one or two Falkirk players, but I am honest and ambitious and have earned my stripes, but I care deeply about this football club and I have unfinished business here.

"I have never hidden the fact that I have ambitions to manage down south.

"There is a squad of Scottish managers there - Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Alex McLeish, Alan Irvine and Owen Coyle - and I'd like to join them.

"It would be the next stage in my development.

"If the chance to do so arose, I don't think the Falkirk supporters would hold it against me."

Sounds like he's created the speculation himself. not that he ever self-promotes...
  • Home Alone was a good chrimbo film.
  • He aint coming then !
  • He was in the midst of a six-match touchline ban to start the season. So there must be some life to him!

We'd have Macauley Culkin in centre midield, only in his mid-twenties, could still do a job. If he wanted experience, he could call on some of his 80's charges, Anthony Micheal Hall, Judd Nelson & even Molly Ringwald! Another midfield schemer would be Ferris Bueller! Would outsmart any defence! ;-)
  • If we want someone with loads of passion, positive experience as manager (of Falkirk), someone from the outside with no ties to the current regime, than Hughes should be someone to consider.
  • He wouldn't be that expensive to employ, either.
  • Seems he has decent credentials. To be honest I am still not convinced that the board have even got a shortlist. Quoted as saying " I have not been approached " which of course implies Charlton are not even close to appointing someone because in our current situation he is a manager that ought to be in the frame. I put my supprt behind Di Canio but its a leap to far I think for our board. If I was a betting man I might well have a punt on Mark Robson.
  • Hold on wasn't Mark Robson part of the Reed debacle......
  • As a very junior member as I remember. Robson is a highly respected coach. As for manager ? I think our board might like the idea.
  • Although we are shite & massive odds-on to go down, surely this is a good time to be coming in as Manager.

Huge amount of goodwill from the fans & a very low base to start from. You will be compared to your recent predecessors' records, which post Curbs are all shocking. Little downside, apart of course from taking us down & even then you'd probably not be directly blamed, so much as pitied for what occurred before you joined.

I reckon you're right there. If we stay up you're a hero, if we don't it ain't your fault. I bet there are plenty licking their lips at the thought.
  • just like when pardew arrived no one really thought we'd stay up so there was little downside to our inevitable relegation for pardew cos he had a two year master plan lol...
so the new manager will have to make sure he announces a two year plan ;-)
  • cant see how he was linked

Reported that he is interested in coming South both us and Blackpool looking for a manager also read somewere neither club have ben in touch

    Is that really a link?

Exactly the situation Pards walked into.

No you're right it's not a link, it's really just him announcing that he'd like to manage in England eventually. Sounds like he'd definitely take the job if offered.
