Are we ever going to win again?

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Of course we will eventually, but I am now starting to doubt whether we've got it in us to do it this season.

Game of two halves today. The 2nd half was infinitely better than the first, but let's not get carried away as Queer Park Rovers were pretty cack themselves. In fact they are the latest in a long procession of cack teams we've had down there and failed to beat this season.

Surely we're running out of toss opposition to play?

  • I know what you mean.

We won't play more mediocre oppo than Cov, Derby and QPR at home again all season, and the fact we've failed to win a single one of them, well.....
  • Have to agree with the two statements above.

Derby were awful, Coventry not much better and we couldn't beat either of them.

Couldn't get back home in time to go today but went to Loftus Rd last month and thought QPR were a poor side there.

Am starting to think our players just aren't good enough for this league.
  • Let's just hope that Forest prove to be the 'pick of the bunch' - AND that we beat them!
  • Of course will will win again, just not this season.
  • Negative posts lads. I for one thought that that was infinitely better than what we have seen recently. If we play like that every game then I think we will be alright. Front two were only downside today imho. Service into them was perhaps not the best but neither of them create anything for themselves or cause the defenders any grief.
  • There comes a time when we all have to be a bit negative SHG. Mind you, when you are then I'll now we are proper f**ked!
    ;o)
  • lol. Come on be fair. Do you agree that if we continue like today for remainder of season we will have a good shout of staying up ?
  • Not a chance SHG! Off It and I had a running battle after the Derby game and even he now is siding with me it would appear from the above post!
  • Maybe its too much christmas cheer thats doing it but I came away from The Valley feeling encouraged !
  • by getting a point against a side who have only scored 4 goals away from home all season and finding ourselves bottom ?!

who ARE we going to beat!?

  • In answer to the original question....I am beginning to seriously doubt it.
  • Shooter's Hill - I'll have some of what you've been smoking mate.
Under Parkinson we have played 6 poor sides in the bottom half and not managed to win a single one!

If we play as poorly on Sunday as we did at Blackpool and Norwich and Sheff Utd get it together then it could be really embarassing...

I genuinely can't see us winning again this season because we go to pieces defensively trying to see out a draw. I dread to think what we'd be like trying to see out a win.

Actually I know what we'd be like because it happened in the last home game.

Well as long as there aren't 4 bloody minutes injury we'll be ok then, maybe? But as a wiser man once said; "When it ain't going for yer...".

We seem to improve for one game then take a step backward in the next.
There were some positive things from yesterdays second half display that we 'should all' take heart from.
The only problem with that is that we've seen this happen several times recently, leading us to believe we may have reached (if not turned) the corner....but without it actually carrying the positives over to the next game...curious if you ask me...very curious.
The second half wasn't too bad...IMHO, good enough to keep us in the division, however I/we have no confidence whatsoever that this performance will carry over to our next game.

    Pretty fair summary
  • Basically we hav to beat Norwich, Southampton, Forest, Doncaster and Watford/Bristol city/Blackpool and draw as many games as possible (with the aim of winning those games). From watching the match yesterday i think we can certainly draw alot of the games we would have originally lost.
  • Until we stop giving away cheap goals we aren't going anywhere except down. All season we've crumbled as soon as the opposition press us, as a result we're not giving ourselves a chance. There were some good bits yesterday but however you dress it up QPR had scored 4 aways goals until yesterday and increased that by 50%.
  • I still think we'll stay up

and i wish i was going to brammal lane tomorrow (have no money so can't go)

as bad as it has been this season i still get that pre-match buzz before every game and i'm already looking forward to the forest game.

I don't really understand why i think any of these things... but i do.
  • Thought we were very poor first half.

Second half we improved but everytime someone attacks us we look like conceding. Going to take a massive effort to win for us to win just one game...so I'm not sure how we will manage the other 10 which we will probably need.
