Dec 23 2000 Charlton 1-0 Everton

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Svensson downward header hit the underside of the crossbar and went in. Remember it well as it was right in front of me. Very stressful 82 minutes followed that. A Svensson goal....how very rare. Good on the head but generally crap like his fellow country man in Martin "Bambi" Pringle

Remember this game well as it was the start of a very surreal Xmas / New year run.

Losing 5-0 to them Hamsters then winning 4-1 against the Massives. Weaver had a mare in goal to let in his 8th goal for us that season. That Jensen deflection! We were on fire that day.

Beating Arsenal 1-0 on New Years Day followed by a painful bump back down to earth with a 1-1 scoreline v D+R who were spurred on my a lot of West Ham fans.

Once upon a time, we could never a result against these Scousers then like buses they all came at once including that 3-0 win on their patch in the arse end of 2001.

Darrel falls off of his chair with tears in his eyes, he looks to the ground a tear slips from his eye and runs down his cheek. That's rock bottom under his knees, realisation sets in that his football club are there.

    Eh Weaver you sure?
  • Weaver in goal for Siddee hence letting in 8 for us ;)
That was a lot of goals for a Massive team.
We had Super Deano between the sticks for us.
  • ah gotcha with a record like that why did we sign him?
  • I was there that day too in the away end. You didn't need to worry about losing it once you had taken the lead as Everton were worse than dire under the reign of Wally Smith and Archie Knox.

I see Ince is being linked with the job today but I think I'm right in saying he did have Knox with him at Blackburn. It would be a bad move if Ince brought him to SE7 with him if there is any truth in this.

thought Ray Mathias was his number two at Blackburn, followed him from MKD
  • He's talking about Charlton v Everton, keep up !

    :-)
  • Archie was definitely at Blackburn Large, I saw him on the bench quite a few times with Ince this year on the telly.

As for the Charlton v Everton game in 2000 AFKA, less said the better : (
