We are Charlton, Super Charlton...

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Have been looking at some youtube clips of us in the prem and also watched the playoff final...reminded me of how much I love this team and am extremely worried by what is happening to us. Thought I'd share some stuff with you all in the hope that you will also write down your priceless memories that form part of who you are today... I now live in Canada for the last 4 years. My Dad was Charlton through and through, born in 1941 in Plumstead, he used to "bore" me with all the old huddersfield 7-6 stories and standing on the east terrace!!! How I miss those stories. Anyhow, he passed away in 1996. Is getting to be a long time ago and some memories and feelings fade. The one place I know he is right there is walking down Floyd Road. I dont get there too much anymore but know the valley is always in that corner of SE7..is the most important place in the world to me. I just want to share what our club means to me as it does to you all. It is scary what is going on and bloody hurts. Hope you dont find this depressing as it is meant to mean the opposite and remind us all we support the best team in the land. Up the Addicks!!! Merry Xmas all...

  • Goodun BC...Merry Xmas mate to you and yours
  • Well said BC;
    A Happy Xmas to all yous guys and gals out there in computer land !
  • Good post, the thing I miss most is the fight the good the bad and the ugly charlton teams always had (probably rose tinted glasses), I recall a game against QPR, seconds to go and we were a goal down, a Steve Gritt blast equalised after waves of inept attacks trying to get us on level terms, 3-1 down to Man U - Bartlett, then Robinson make it 3-3, some of the characters in the team - from Charlie Wright (our own flying pig) to Johny Robinson - who in one match went to retrieve the ball when it went into the bushes around the floodlight pylons - like a real park player.

    Happy days
  • We Want Our Charlton Back???
  • I miss Steve Thompson. Not the world's most stylish or cultured footballer by any stretch of the imagination, but seemed as if he was willing to risk life and limb in the Charlton cause. Didn't he demolish one of the pitch side hoardings in his efforts to get the ball back when we played Liverpool at Selhurst one time?

    They had extra hoarding in place for the game as i think it was being shown live in Sweden or something and Thompson almost got a nail through his chest going through the hoardings
  • Ouch! Gives new meaning to salvaging a point, even a rusty one.
  • I agree I was born and raised in South London as a result I will always, no matter what happens, be a Charlton Athletic supporter.
