Points required to stay up

Looking back over the past 10 years, the average points needed to stay in this division is 49.7 (low 47, high 53)

So realistically we need a minimum of 32 points from the remainder of the season. This means we need to perform to the level of a fringe play-off team over the next 23 games. Jesus.

Maybe I should get out more.

  • that's 10 wins out of that lot plus a couple of draws - not too good at the moment is it?
  • Or we could go on a huge winning streak.

We can still win the league!!!
  • Looking at it though.. we're only really 6 or 7 points behind the form we need to be on to be staying up.

So we need to be on track for around 32 points from the second half of the season? Let's make sure we have a decent second half then.

Teams from Swansea (11th) up in the league have got 32 points from the first half of the season. Is it really too big an ask?
  • It's a big ask - but by no means impossible....I (sadly) have a spreadsheet that tracks our points. If you need 50 to survive then thats 1.087 per game. We are currently averaging 0.78 per game. We really need to average around 1.4 per game for the remaining 23 games - so minimum is to draw all the away games (11) and win around 7 home games (21) to give us 50 points. Wish I could see it happening...
  • Or to look at it another way.

We have to better Southamptons points for the final 23 games by 4 or more

And Beat Doncasters or Forests by 1 point.
  • Which ever way you look at it, we're in for a tough season.

I reckon we can do and Parkinson's the right man.
  • We'll win 20 games before the end of the season........
  • but how many of those will be in the cup?

Big Red & Evil is right. We only have to get one more point than the 22nd club.
    Do-able? Of course.

We dropped like a stone a dozen games ago.
In the 2nd part of the season, other clubs in mid-table will probably do so also.
