"Harvey from Tintagel, Cornwall"

edited December 2008 in General Charlton
Won the Valley Gold draw tonight. I bet he wasn't there to pick up his cheque though, despite BDL suggesting that he might be in the sparse crowd.

  • why not ? Guy two rows behind me came up from Bath and I know another that came up from Bovey Tracy.
  • Seriously though, would you travel up from Tintagel - which is probably getting on for double the drive to Bath because of the lack of motorway - on a Monday night, in the middle of the run we're on when it's live on TV?

Maybe it's Oggy, he comes from down that way somewhere doesn't he?
  • And I come up from Cornwall as often as I can

But not tonight, eh Harvey? (Not that I am questioning you not coming - I very nearly never made the trip from New Eltham!)
  • I'm not Harvey, Offy ....or at least I've never won the Valley Gold draw.

But Tintagel is not so far from me.

    :o)

That's a shame Oggy - for you - otherwise you'd have a nice few extra sheets in your pocket just in time for Christmas.

Mind you, I never realised that Cornwall was such a hotbed of Charlton support - you and Harvey must practically be neighbours. Maybe you should set up a branch of the supporters club!
  • I sent a text to AFKA to see if it was Oggy when I saw the draw last night.
  • Thanks for all the thoughts that I might have been nicely loaded for Christmas but, Alas! it was not to be. Lucky old Harvey, proper Cornish name that, not. :o)

I know people regard Cornwall as a suburb of Bristol - but even Bristol is 125 miles away from Plymouth, probably nearer to London than Cornwall, lol.

Cornwall is 70 miles long from the River Tamar, west of Plymouth to Land's End, with no motorways - so it can take a while just to get to Plymouth from here, let alone to London/The Valley.

Anyway, if you include the Plymouth area to the East, there's a decent handful of Addicks down here - including a ST holder who comes up from Truro every match.

    Now there's a hero!
  • what a hero from truro??

    coat!! me, get it!!
