It'll come if we keep that up, the players looked like they believed they can win. They didn't against Coventry.

We also managed to score two goals from open play, and get in behind our opponents defence.

We can attack better than that, at times we were rushed on the ball and were very direct. Semedo and Bailey especially I thought had to be a bit more composed at times. If we can grind out a few results that should come.

Two very good goals in my opinion....

first semedo put in Hunt who turned powell as im sure he knew he would and great finish....

second Sam looked excellent and Waghorn lost his man brilliantly , bit of luck and the keeper was beaten...
  • Some of the best goals we've scored in a while really.

    definately...

and we created 2 good chances in the second half.... one completely guilt edged......
  • Derby must be so happy 2 get a point out of that,we were better than them in every part of the park.Gutted about the result but happy with how we played 2nite.Bring on norwich.
  • I know it's been said, but we just have to keep plugging away more performances like tonight and we will get a result, then the confidence will come back, then hopefully we can make a fight of it.

However how many times have we had a promising performance only to go out a few days later and look utterly hopeless? Hopefully Norwich won't be like that.

that is the test of Phil Parkinson as manager....
  • as fans you can't ask more than the players putting a real shift in and I thought they all did that tonight. If you are not good enough then that is a different matter but at least it looked like they cared.

I was proud of our players last night, everyone gave every thing they had and that is what we have been crying out for for a long time. That was definately the best I have seen us play for along time, everything generally was there. Just really bad luck in the end. If they play like that week in week out then we have got our Charlton back (here's hoping),maybe PP is starting to take effect and who knows we can stay up after all. As PP lost his voice afterwards it rather shows that he was displaying passion for the cause, either that or he has a bad throat!
  • proud to be Charlton again and believe 100% we will get that win on Saturday if we show anything like that amount of hunger on display last night

Really? Everyone who I watched the game with in the pub (not Palace fans) thought you were still toilet. Derby were worse but even if you're bottom, they were there for the taking and you couldn't even manage that.

You deserved to win but even Waghorn's goal took a decisive deflection which stopped the keeper making a routine save so there's a stroke of luck for yourselves right away.

Norwich aren't any better though, Roeder will of course moan about a dodgy decision against his team so make sure whatever it is that you take advantage of it!

Pretty good support though considering your position, there's no way there was nearly 21,000 there though. It's horrific being in a relegation scrap towards the end of the season but the atmosphere is always better than if you're in a promotion run.
  • Haha... post on our message boards, the little bunnies even watch us on telly together... they just can't get away from us

January 27th will be very sweet.

I watched it in the pub before clubbing, with a Brighton fan, Milan fan and a West Ham fan so yes we did...

Pretty sure I remember a thread on here after we beat Southampton!

See you on the 27th, it'll be sold out by the end of the week.

Yeah thats right, we had a thread on here like your very entitled to have a thread on your own site, just a reminder it's www.CPFC/wedon'tcareaboutCharltonwellmaybejustalittlebit.com
  • don't bite will you churley ;-)

thanks for taking six points off Southampton and Doncaster... you're obviously looking to keep the "rivalry" going next season
  • Don't worry Leaburn I just wanted to make it clear I wouldn't meet up with Palace fans to watch a Charlton game on tv, thankfully I'm not that sad :-)

There's plenty of Charlton fans on cpfc.org and holmesdale.net so I don't see any reason why I can't stay here unless I become abusive of course. No worries about beating Saints and Donny, we've won 5 out of 6 games so the longer we keep this winning run the more chance we have of promotion. Honestly can't see Burnley and Preston staying above us!

Thanks for the link plaaayer, deep down I know you're not a bad bunch.
  • 2 points out of a possible 5 since parky has come in not much of an improvement really.
  • Ha, ha group hugs all round on the 27th!

As long as there's no repeats of the Palace hooligans on the train, it should be a cracking night regardless of the result! Looking forward to the banter already.

I think parky did well to draw that out of the players last night, he seems to put in 100% effort.
  • For me the big difference was the presence of Elliott. He looked very assured and this spread out to the players in front of him. I have been very critical of Hudson this season but I thought last night he looked the player his reputation suggests- He led like a captain for once and looked alot more confident. Basey also lent confidence to the back- I still think that the two weak links are Bailey who gets riled too easily and then makes stupid mistakes in his passing and Crainey who just doesn't look good enough- gets beaten too easily and drifts out of position too much. Another player I have been very critical of is Gray but again last night I thought he looked alot more sharper and positive. Sam run himself into the groundd and deserved his standing ovation and Waghorn showed endeavour and promise. I do think though that Toddy should have come on for Bouazza as he knows how to keep the ball and the way Derby's defenders were getting jittery may have cajoled them into more errors.

The reason I am proud of my team after the Derby game is that we have been utter cack for a long time (something Palace fans would be used to, given that generally you are dire most seasons!) and played with more passion and drive than for a long time which hints at better things to come. Derby were not great and were definately there to be beaten you are right about that, the point being that more performances like that and we will not be where we are now come may. As for the 27th bring it on! (want to trade some crisp packets after the match?)

Bailey is really lacking in confidence and struggling with the pressure we're now under.

Don't think that's fair on Cranie, he's not made many big mistakes. Who would you replace him with? Possibly Semedo, looks like Parkinson see's him as a midfielder though. I like Yassin but Cranie is more solid defensively.

Seems to be a bit of a target by our fans, I think everyone would be a lot more patient and happier with him if he was our own player.
