Manager - Are we even looking ?

Before anyone jumps on me for not supporting Parkinson I will nail my colours to the mast up front. He is not the man to get us out of the shizer and imho has not done particularly well since being made caretaker. I presume that being appointed caretaker means just that - in charge till replacement is found. I know Charlton like to play their cards pretty close to their chests so would not expect much information eminating from that source but I would have expected one of the redtops or TV stations to have picked up on something by now. Are we even looking ? Have we interviewed or spoken with anyone ? Not heard any manager put himself out of the running publicly or any club mention that Charlton have made enquiries about their manager. Have we put an add in the press ? Phil Parkinson is in charge till 2009 well I think we will be relegated by then. If the board want to appoint him because they have no money then do it now. Fairer on Phil, Fairer on us. If they on the other hand are dithering then that is inexcuseable given the situation we find ourselves in. Am I alone in thinking this ? I know that I am not. Watch the crowd tonight fellas its going to be very small. No doubt due to christmas and Sky tv ;-) - What is happening to Charlton just now is gutting me. Never been one to criticise very much. I stamped on my rose tinted specs at the weekend. I have reached the end and want something done.

  • Here here
  • Maybe we're not looking because the board are in advanced talks with a Middle East / American / Asian* consortium who will want to appoint their own manager when they take over**

    * Delete as appropriate
    ** In my dreams
  • 1) no, we are not currently looking

    2) will only look after the "strategic review" in Jan 09.

reminds me of the old "prepare 3 envelopes" joke !!
  • cant see that we are "looking" as such as im sure the Board will be trying to aim what ever money we get in from transfers out of players 2 get us out of the pit we are in. Im sure though X number of people have applied.
  • Come and ask tomorrow night in Bromley

    good point
  • We don't know, do we ......?

The real question is - do the Board know?

As Rothko says - if you go along to Bromley tomorrow night, there might be clues.
  • What time does it kick off in bromley tmrw? the casc website isn't up to date
  • and if you don't come to Bromley, don't moan when things aren't leaked on here

From 8, but Ben is supplying mince pies, so get there early!
  • Rothko, I will not be able to attend tomorrow night and even if I could I still reserve the right to moan.
  • Rights revoked, check the T and C's

I won't be going, but I need to get certain people there on time!
  • The original post is spot on. Parkinson is never going to be able to stamp any kind of authority on the team all the time he is "caretaker"

Extending the uncertainty until January isn't going to help anyone. Either give the job to Parkinson until the end of the season or get someone one in now!
  • I think the in-decision we are seeing this season from our Board is nothing short of criminal. If Murray was in Charge Pards would have been sacked at 17.01pm after the Barnsley game & we would already have a new man installed & would hopefully already be climbing the league. Just my opinion mind.
  • Think that's harsh on the current board Ketters. After all, who sacked Dowie and put Les in charge?

Think we'll have to agree to dis-agree on this one mate.

  • I disagree...
  • I'm firmly in Ketman's corner on this, but once again we still looking at things that have happened rather than focusing on the now and the future.
  • edited December 2008
What Ketman has wrote is 100% correct The current board are more interested in prostituting our club around wealthy folks pinning their hopes on owning the training ground and ground than sorting out the mess they have been instrumental in causing

a fecking shambles top to bottom and one i am disgusted in.

from a club which was the blueprint to others to the blue print of what not to do
  • Its very depressing, I think we saw some good things from phil tonight however....
