Will gladly do that kap! In reality he probably will play his usual game all effort but no real end product and that will be fine- but given recent history he will probably play a blinder, score a goal and we will be in even deeper dung all thanks to a ridiculous football league rule making it all possible and also us agreeing to it. He shouldn't be allowed to play against us until he is solely owned by Derby, until then even though on a technicality he is still a Charlton player and if Paul Jewell gets fired (which is highly possible) and the next boss doesn't fancy him (which is not highly improbable) he may even end up back here! Lovely set of if's I know but all possible.
Hope no one boos him, really doesn't deserve it. People forget so quickly he got a decent amount of goals last season for the number of starts he had. Probably needs to be alongside a more natural goalscorer to take the pressure off him.
As I said, a few more games and people will start to realise how much better Varney is than McLeod.
Considering us Charlton fans are always banging on about how we don't mind losing as long as the players are trying their hardest, if we boo Varney then we are indeed a bunch of morons. He tried harder then anyone else over the past two years.
I certainly won't boo Varney, or anyone else for that matter but I'm desperately hoping he doesn't score. I'd find that pretty hard to take in all truth.
Surely anyone that boos him should just be ashamed of themselves.
He bust his gut for us every week when surrounded by 7/8/9 players that didn't, whether he cost £x million, never had the confidence, or just wasn't good enough... none of that is the guy's fault!

Not iof he misses a couple of open goals. If he does score and celebrates can someone organise a lynch mob.
If he gets booed at the start when teams are read out, he will score and he'll celebrate.

As for this, both clubs lost managers that were there for a very long time in recent years, that's probably got more to do with it.
