Netbooks

Anyone got one of these? Didn't fancy purchasing a laptop so brought myself an Acer Netbook...Small screen (8.9inch) but they are quality! Highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't got on.

You can pick em up for £200quid, great for surfing the web etc...Can also set up so you can remote desktop onto a main PC & get access to all your other docs/adult material/music & such!

You can if you wish, either install or by using from another PC. Alot come with Linux but very install to install XP.

OR there is always Google Docs...Online word processing, spreadsheets & presentation software.

Or Open Office, works on Linux and Windows, basically same functionality as Word 2003/XP, and it's free, which is nice. Or Abiword (which is what I have on my netbook) has most of the functionality of word, and is a fairly light app (memory and processor use-wise), so runs nice and quickly on even the lowest spec computers.

I have an asus eee netbook and it's got linux on. Wouldn't swap for windows, there's no way it would be usable. My desktop pc is slow enough at times, and that has far more memory, disk space and a much quicker processor.

To be honest though, not sure word processing is what they are for, the keyboard is a bit small for doing a lot of typing on, unless you 10 years old. I use mine mostly for surfing, playing flash games, bit of emailing and IMing. Plus I have dosbox installed and scummvm, so can play loads of old dos games and the monkey island game (including day of the tentacle and some other classic adventures like Beneath a steel sky)

Asus eee900s are great but be careful of the split hd 12gig model.
